On Sunday, April 17, the National Superintendent of Migration, Jorge Fernández Campos, announced that starting in June the appointment system will be eliminated, with the purpose of allowing citizens to process the electronic passport.
“From Migraciones we can guarantee users that in June the questioned appointment system will end. Any citizen will be able to exercise their constitutional right to obtain a passport in order to guarantee their international mobility,” Fernández said.

He stressed that passports are obtained due to the collaboration of the supplier, who delivers the lots in advance of the date to which he committed. “With this we are regularizing care and soon we will eliminate the appointment system,” he assured.
“We are going to return to a normality in which any citizen who comes to Migration will obtain a passport on the same day, as it was before,” reiterated the National Superintendent of Migration
He also called on the citizens to remain calm and go to the institution's headquarters for now, in case they have to travel 48 hours or 24 hours in advance; he also denounced the mafia selling fraudulent queues and tickets to obtain passports in the current context.
