A fact that has outraged the Internet community occurred a few days ago in Mazatlan, a Mexican seaside resort located in the state of Sinaloa, after a local singer claimed to have been scammed by Colombian tourists.

According to the story that the woman shared on her social networks, everything happened while she was working as a street artist on a local beach, when the group of foreigners asked her to perform some songs for them and they would give her four thousand pesos. However, they did not specify whether they would pay with money from Mexico or Colombia.

Ruby Estephania (the singer's name) agreed to the request because she thought she would receive local currency, as is customary, but at the end of her work she received two thousand Colombian pesos banknotes, which, at the current exchange rate, are just over 21 Mexican pesos. This sum is quite small compared to what she originally imagined.

Finally, he asserted that he learned his lesson and decided to assimilate everything as “work for the love of art”.

Reactions to the event aroused immediately, because although some say that everything was a miscommunication between the Colombians and Ruby Estephania, others say that they were aware of the confusion they caused in her.

“If you go to another country you won't expect to pay with another currency”, “I don't know why there are Colombians who defend shameless people like those who make us look bad”, “then don't ask why they don't want us in other countries and they give us trouble to enter” and “always showing the worst of our kind abroad”; are some of the comments that triggered the fact.

Fortunately for the Mexican artist, her complaint went viral and she received the support of a large number of Internet users, who sent donations to her personal account. In addition, thousands of people began to follow her on social networks and have encouraged her to continue her work.
