It has been a little more than four months since Jordan Guivin decided to sign with Toros Celaya of the Liga Expansión MX and through effort, work has been making a way away from his country.
And precisely based on his work, a few days ago his name made headlines in Peru, for his first goal in the Toros Celaya jersey against Venados CF, which allowed him to qualify for the quarterfinals of the MX Expansion League.
For that reason, Infobae called Jordan Guivin to tell us about his present at Toros Celaya and give more details about it.
“I am very happy because I know that I am contributing to the team. In addition, I am happy because things are working out for me, now the goal was scored and I am happy that the technical team is comfortable with my performance, just like the club,” Jordan Guivin commented exclusively to Infobae.
He then gave details about his first goal in Mexico with the Toros Celaya jersey. “I dared to hit him because I think that if I gave a touch too much, there they would come out to pressure me and steal my ball. A strong shot came out and that thanks to God became a goal that gave us the victory”, he added.
“At the time, as I told you, it is a great opportunity to be here in Mexico, playing in a great club, the truth is that I am very happy to be here, since they have treated me in the best way since I arrived and it is a showcase to be in a First Division team from Mexico or any other country, and it is a nice experience that I am living , since it is a very intense football, I adapted in the best way, my statistics are good and every match I try to make the most of it because you don't know who might be watching you,” Jordan Guivin told this media outlet.
Analyze his moment with Toros Celaya
“I think I'm in a good time, in a different football and I adapted in the best way. In addition, that I was trusted by the coaching staff, manager José Hanan, President 'Chino' Benavides, people who gave me that confidence and the opportunity to be here. I also thank my representative Raúl Arrese and the truth is that I feel that I am taking a big step, but I still do not feel that I am in a great moment, however, I am trying to cope with things so that that great moment is achieved and always giving one hundred percent. I am happy that I was given the goal because I was looking for it and from now on, with that mentality that at any moment more goals will come”
“I've had 10 starting matches, I had to enter or start, once I was an initialist, I didn't leave the position because I gave 100 percent, because when the opportunities come we have to take advantage of them and I think we are all important in what we have to do on the pitch and the truth is that the coaching staff has behaved very well with me, it has given me the confidence that I can feel free in the field. They ask me to have a lot of ball possession and that the ball always passes through my feet. I feel happy because it's what I like the most, but when you have to run I do it without any problem, because sometimes there are games where tenure doesn't come to be a weapon and you have to run. So, in that aspect, it also helps me because the elite players are not only with the ball, but in the physical part,” he added.
In turn, we asked him about what he lacks to be an elite player, to which Jordan Guivin responded. “To be an elite player I have to keep improving at what I am good at and what I don't have to keep tuning. The goal issue, as I tell you, is too important for my position, the issue of the pass, it is something natural that I have that does not cost me. The issue of transitions maybe a little, but here in Mexico I have improved it a lot. The watchword is to be able to reach the First Division with the club, but that is with work,” he told Infobae exclusively.
The Peruvian national team
Ricardo Gareca, coach of the Peruvian national team, repeatedly pointed out that every player with continuity in his team has a chance in the bicolor. Therefore, we asked Jordan Guivin if they have communicated with him from Videna. “To be honest, I haven't had any kind of communication yet, but I hope to have it at some point, since it's a dream I have and I've been fighting every day. I hope it happens to me because I have been working for that and it is a dream that I long a lot to wear the white and red as I did when I was 15 years old, 17 years old and the U23. The truth is that being in the senior team I would be very happy, but for that opportunity you have to grab me ready”, he emphasized.
“I don't regret the decision I made, I felt that it was time to leave and the Toros Celaya, the Expansion League, happened and I'm taking advantage of it in the best way. As I tell you, you don't know who might be watching you and it was a challenge for me, the day I arrived and I looked at the players who were here and you could see the difference. I saw the intensity and at that time I made a big decision because this is going to help me from now on, since modern football is very intense and I try on the ball. Thank God I am working on it and it is being seen that I have improved the intensity with the GPS and the numbers it throws. I am grateful for the opportunity they gave me,” Jordan Guivin told Infobae.
