The video began to circulate through social networks of a man who was saved from being robbed in the San Isidro neighborhood, located south of Barranquilla, because his attacker fell just as he intended to tackle him.

The facts, according to the data recorded on the recording, go back to last Thursday, April 14 at about 3:30 in the afternoon, and show a person who was checking his cell phone next to the railing of a house. From one moment to another, two men approached on a motorcycle and, who was riding as a barbecue man, jumped to catch off guard who would be his victim, apparently a domiciliary.

However, to the bad fortune of the offender, he tripped and ended up crashing into a bicycle. This allowed the citizen to run down the street at the bottom of the shot, managing to escape from the men in a matter of seconds.

Although the thief tried to pursue the victim for a few meters, his accomplice ended up picking him up when he noticed that there was no longer an option to intercept the man.

The acts of violence have aroused the concern of the authorities and inhabitants of Barranquilla. In the development of the carnival, an iconic event in the Atlantic capital, the Metropolitan Police reported a total of 1,765 fights, including the surrounding municipalities.

Likewise, General Luis Hernández, commander of the Barranquilla Police, said that during the four days of holidays in the 'Arenosa' (March 26-29), there were “19,000 calls to the 123 emergency line for different reasons, of which 1,717 were due to quarrels attended by the Metropolitan Police. These acts of intolerance left us 34 injured and 10 people lost their lives, five of them in the city of Barranquilla.”

It should be remembered that, since February 2017, Barranquilla has been prohibited from moving the man barbecue in certain areas. The measure was extended by the Mayor's Office until October 2022 “in order to reduce accidents and to protect the lives of motorcyclists and other road users in the city,” the entity said in an official statement.

However, so far there has been no improvement in crime figures. At the March cut of this year, homicides increased by 5%, while human theft grew by 33%.

The first case was reported in the morning, when the community of the municipality of La Playa found the lifeless body of a 30-year-old woman, identified as Albanis Del Carmen Báez.

According to the authorities' report, neighbors said that the woman had a strong argument with her romantic partner, who apparently took a knife and attacked the woman until she took her life. Although she was eventually transferred to a medical center, the professionals of the health center confirmed her death.

Hours later, in the metropolitan area of Barranquilla, a woman was killed with a firearm. The events took place in the Altos de Belén neighborhood, where they found the victim, who was identified as Aurora Sánchez Bauza, 34 years old.

The Metropolitan Police indicated that, in this case, the woman was intercepted by armed men who were mobilizing on a motorcycle and who shot her five times. According to witnesses, Sanchez was wearing a black sweater, blue jeans and carrying a small pink bag. After the attack, the victim was left with a disfigured face as a result of the gunshot.
