Mexico's constitutional president Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) rejected the comprehensive border control measures carried out in the state of Texas, which include additional inspections of tractor trucks and buses crossing from Mexico to the United States (USA).
In his daily morning conference from the National Palace, the president stated that the reason for these revisions in order to maintain immigration control and border security could be the fact that the governor of Texas aspires to be the country's candidate for the Republican party:
“They think that they will gain sympathy with that, although it hurts [...] That is attributed to and will continue to happen because elections are coming. Instead of thinking about how to solve the problem of inflation, they are already involved in politics and even violating international law,” he said.
He also pointed out that the main objective is to “create conflicts”, but that for no reason will Mexico fall into provocations such as those.
He joked criticizing the excessive force with which the US government is trying to tackle the problem of illegal trafficking of migrants and drugs.
