How many people have started to like manga and anime after adults? It could be said that a large percentage, since these narrative and artistic expressions originating in Japan, rather than being just simple comics or “cartoons”, really catch with their valuable content and teachings for all stages of life.

This time we come to talk to you about a jewel in the industry, Blue Period, also known under its title in Spanish, Blue Period. The story that this anime tells us is about frustration, overcoming, following dreams and learning from mistakes. In addition, it has a very profound premise: it's never too late to dedicate yourself to what you love.

Give yourself the opportunity to meet Yatora Yaguchi, a high school student who constantly strives to get good grades and doesn't like to take risks and always tries to do the right thing to please others. However, he feels a deep inner void because he does not yet know what to do with his life.

One day, his existence takes a resounding turn when he passes by the high school art club and is stunned by the quality of a work painted by a member of the club, which inspires him to make his first drawing: a landscape with blue tones of the sunrise of Shibuya (a special region of the Tokyo Metropolis). After being congratulated by the whole class, he feels that art has led him to express himself for the first time with sincerity and he realizes that painting is his vocation.

From that moment on, Yatora, who has no previous experience or knowledge of art, will try to learn all possible techniques to take the entrance exam at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts (Geidai), considered one of the most demanding in the country due to the few places it offers.

Blue Period is a manga written and illustrated by Tsubasa Yamaguchi and has an anime adaptation. It was released in Japan on October 2, 2021 on the Super Animeism block on the TBS channel network. Worldwide, Netflix is the one who has it in its catalog.
