After the broadcast of Chespirito's programs on Televisa and other Latin American broadcasts went off the air in 2020, Roberto Gómez Fernández, son of the late actor and playwright, announced the creation of new products related to the characters and stories inspired by the remembered artist.
In addition to the exploitation of Chespirito's image as official merchandise, promotional agreements with different brands and the opening of a themed restaurant, the heir of Gómez Bolaños announced the creation of a series inspired by the life of man that created multiple characters such as “El chavo del 8″, “Chómpiras”, “Quico” and” Chaparrón Bonaparte”, among others.
With the announcement, expectations began to arise as to what plot the project will address or who will be the actors chosen to give life to the writer and other key characters in its story, such as his widow, Florinda Meza, or the painting of actors that accompanied him over the years.
Although no details have been revealed, it is known that the project will tell little known aspects of the life of the man who died in 2014, such as his childhood, youth, and how he managed to consolidate an emporium based on the comedy of his already emblematic characters.
For this, the passages in the life of Gómez Bolaños will be recreated by different actors representing each stage. To spice it up in his adult life, one of the chosen ones could be Lalo España, who has been “raising his hand” for more than a year to be considered in the ambitious project.
Lalo, who has expressed that it would be an honor to give life to the famous actor for considering him an inspiration in the comedy genre, posted a video on his YouTube account where he appears characterized as some of Chespirito's popular characters with the intention of being watched for the show's auditions, a goal that he finally achieved.
Despite being called to a first phase of the casting, and even receiving a callback (that is, it went to a next phase in the auditions), Lalo has not received any notification at the moment, and it is even said that the project would have been paused to begin production until 2023.
Meanwhile, it was another actor who shared that he too was contemplated to give life to Chespirito in the bioseries about to be recorded. Coincidentally, it is another member of the cast of Vecinos, a series where Lalo España gives life to the goalkeeper “Germán”, a character with whom he has consolidated his taste in the public over the almost 20 years that the series produced by Elías Solorio has been airing.
Lalo does not yet know what will happen to the choice of the actor who will give life to the main character, and he could even be left out of the project, since it recently transpired that actor Moisés Suárez, who is very close to Spain, has also come to do the casting.
In a meeting with the media, the actor who gives life to “Don Arturo” in Vecinos said that he was considered: “I was invited to audition, with the possibility of participating by making Don Roberto Gómez Bolaños at some point in his life, naturally at an older age,” he told Chisme no like.
Although he has already appeared at the casting, Moisés has not received any feedback from Grupo Chespirito or the production house, but the actor does not lose hope of remaining part of the ambitious project:
“I auditioned, I hope I get elected; however, there are many characteristics that are required to make this person great, but I don't lose hope until it is decided who is going to do it,” he said.
“I don't know exactly who is producing it, I know it has a lot to do, of course, with his son Roberto Gómez Fernández, but I don't know about the other people as producers, I really don't have a clue,” said the first actor.
