Little by little, Netflix has been creating an impressive catalog of diverse content on its platform and, although it mainly targets original series and films, the reality is that it is beginning to expand in its range of documentaries. If you are a fan of real stories and you have the time, the willingness and the desire to enjoy a very good production, but you don't know what to see, we give you a list of options with must-see documentaries.

Money: Trust no one

In 2018, during his honeymoon in India, a few days after he changed his will, Gerry Cotten, the CEO of QuadrigaCX, the main investment firm in cryptocurrencies from Canada, died unexpectedly. At the grave he took the password to access some USD 250 million of his more than 75,000 customers. Money literally vanished into cyberair.

Comida: La divina gula

This docuseries is an ode to those delicious dishes that are worth trying no matter if they are a real exaggeration. A series about food that Mexicans love to hate. (NETFLIX)

The production focuses on Mexico and takes a tour of the delicious dishes typical of this country, but which are not at all healthy. Actually, they're all pretty eccentric.

The first season has six episodes, in which the owners and workers of different establishments tell how they prepare some of their most striking dishes. And only in the trailer can viewers understand what they will encounter: “They will say that we are crazy in Mexico because of what we eat”, is heard in the first seconds of the preview. Later on, otherworldly preparations appear, such as a hamburger with 15 floors of meat, a 50-centimeter hot dog, tacos inside a cake and desserts that no one would imagine.

Scam: The Tinder Scammer

Simon Leviev is the name that the guy in question used to meet women on the dating app, where he posed as the son of a billionaire diamond tycoon. Once he seduced his victims with a life of luxury, which included world travel and expensive gifts, he began to borrow money from them with the excuse that his life was in danger, he was pursued by the diamond mafia and had to be managed by paying cash in order not to be traced.

They, believing that they had met the man of their dreams, Prince Charming in fairy tales, rushed to the rescue of their beloved, handing out large sums that he wasted to dazzle his new victims. Obviously, women, some in debt to the core, began to claim the return of the money, which, as you can already deduct, had already spent it. There were so many victims that they even came together and managed to bring it to justice and be held accountable. The case took international domination.

Mystery: The worst housemates in the world

It highlights four heartbreaking stories of flatmates. (NETFLIX)

From Blumhouse Television, the new five-part documentary series Worst Roommate Ever in English, highlights four heartbreaking stories of seemingly harmless flatmates, which become real-life nightmares for their unsuspecting victims, when their malevolent and sometimes violent intentions are revealed.

Art: The Diaries of Andy Warhol

It tells the extraordinary life of Andy Warhol from the intimate point of view offered by the artist's posthumous diaries. (NETFLIX)

Hand in hand with Ryan Murphy, as executive producer, and Andrew Rossi, as director, the six episodes of this miniseries take us through the artist's life, based on his posthumously published diaries and through interviews with dozens of friends and collaborators. Although it is a golden opportunity to get to know Warhol better, the director starts from the premise that you will at least know the basics of his life and work. Thus, the documentary is much more interested in ideas, religion, philosophy, work and their relationship with the affective-sexual part of their life.
