This was Freddy Rincón's last hours before his fatal accident in Cali

The former footballer of the Colombia national team was playing with some friends before suffering the serious initient in the capital of Valle del Cauca

A few hours before his fatal accident in Cali (Valle del Cauca), that Monday, April 11, Freddy Rincón was sharing in the house of the salsa singer, Harold Saa, along with other friends, such as Édison Ruiz, former mayor of Buenaventura.

This was confirmed a couple of days ago by Vladimir Mosquera, friend of the 'Colossus of Buenaventura', in dialogue with El País de Cali, and who was also at the residence of the Cali artist. “As we always do, we talk about football, we watched the matches of the Colombian tournament, and then we listened to salsa, because Freddy really liked this kind of music,” he said.

In addition, he expressed himself on two points that generated concern among the authorities. The first concerns whether Freddy's older brother, Tomás Alfonso, and owner of the van in which the accident occurred, was present at the meeting. And the second, whether or not the legend of the Colombian team was the one who was driving that vehicle.

Mosquera assured that he did not see the aforementioned relative from Rincón and that he is not sure how the 'Colossus' left the meeting: “When I arrived at the meeting there were several cars, I don't know which of them Freddy arrived in. Then, a little late, I said goodbye to everyone and couldn't see if he left afterwards and in which car he did it.”

Finally, Freddy's friend maintained that the former player was not overboard during the match: “There is a lot of speculation on that subject, there is more talk about it, but whoever knows him realizes that he is a great person. That night I was good, happy and very sober.” And he added that the night before (Saturday) they were also sharing in a bar in Cali with Hámilton Ricard.

As the hours passed, new testimonies were released regarding what happened at that meeting. Precisely, Harold Saa revealed some sections of his last conversation with the 'Colossus of Bonaventure', before he took the car in which he would end up suffering the fatal accident. In an interview with Noticias Caracol, the salsa man said that Rincón asked him for a song and then left.

He stands next to me and says: 'Paisano, I'm leaving, are you coming or not? ' And I said to him: 'No, I'm in mourning, I'm not going out, '” said the Caleño artist.

Likewise, he maintained that Freddy was calm during the meeting and also took the opportunity to eat his favorite dish: “He came to eat tollo, a small shark, he said to save seven dishes for him. He ate and left... ”.

This is a crazy thing, such a silly accident,” Saa pointed out as his voice rattled as he remembered his friend.

This Saturday, El País de Cali released a photograph of Rincon that would have been taken during the meeting at Hárold Saa's house. In this one you can see the former football player dressed in a white t-shirt and wearing a black cap while clapping his hands.

The Attorney General's Office is advancing the investigations to clarify who was in the van with Rincón. According to the traffic report, it is known that the Colombian football idol was a co-driver (receiving the strongest impact) and that Maria Manuela Patiño, 20, and Diana Lorena Cortés, 43, were with him.

It is striking that, initially, one of the involved claimed that Rincón was the one who was driving. The two women are the key witnesses in establishing the identities of the occupants of the car, and will be summoned in the coming days by the Prosecutor's Office to give their version of the facts.

Although it was initially believed that there were four people in the car: Freddy (co-driver), the two women and the driver, investigations by the authorities have determined that there were five. This is because, in the video on the security camera, it is observed that, after the crash, two men had descended from the vehicle, escaping in a taxi that picked them up seconds later.
