The national defender spent several moments with the Dutch club, although his good performance could cause him to change teams for 2022/2023.

Miguel Araujo is one of the most regular Peruvian players abroad in recent years. Since leaving Alianza Lima in 2018 to go to Talleres de Córdoba and then FC Emmen in the Netherlands, he has maintained a high performance. Precisely, with this last team he played promotion this season, being one of the best footballers. However, he did not rule out leaving the club next season.

“I don't know. I hope to stay another year or two. For now I just enjoy this victory and I think about recovering for the next matches and being able to become champion. I might stay, I want to, but this is football. I don't know, it could be another country, another team. We will talk and then I will decide,” said the national defender in an interview conducted by the DVHN media in that country.

To get into context with these statements, Araujo was one of the architects for the cast of 'The Cannibals' to have been able to get the ticket back to the Eredivisie after having dropped last season. They achieved this after the last victory in their visit to Dordrecht, which awarded them this valuable prize.

However, despite this magnificent feat, the goal of the Peruvian national team is to finish first in the standings. This is because there are still 3 dates to be played in the Eerste Divisie after the 71 points scored, the same as Volendam, its top competitor.

“I am very happy. I stayed this season for this (the promotion). Every match for me and my teammates was a final and this is the result. I want to be champion. Not only this game, but I want the first position. That is my mentality, to be champion, he said.

Araujo was undoubtedly one of the most important players in the Emmen this season. At the moment they have played 26 games and have scored 4 goals. He has worn the captain's armband on several occasions, which reflects the player's relevance and hierarchy on the squad. He even stayed to play the Second Division this season after the relegation of the previous season, which was highly valued by the fans and the leadership themselves, who are grateful for the effort that the defender has been making. All this could cause the player to have other teams interested in hiring him in the middle of the year, taking into account that his contract expires at the end of the season.

CLUB WANTS YOU TO STAY

Precisely, a few weeks ago, the president of this institution, Ronald Lubbers, expressed his intention that Miguel renew for more years. “Miguel Araujo ends his contract in summer. We have to wait a bit because I said it in the first week of May, not before. So we have to wait what kind of things restrict what they are doing and at this time we are already talking about how we can do it after the summer”, commented the director in an interview conducted by Pulso Sports Peru.

PARTICIPATION WITH PERU

It should be noted that Araujo is one of the players in which coach Ricardo Gareca has a lot of consideration in the Peruvian national team. Despite not being part of the starting eleven, when it was his turn to play he responded to the height. Brazil (in Lima), Chile (in Santiago) and Colombia (in Barranquilla) were the duels where he had minutes and contributed to the 'bicolor'. It is also expected that it can be considered for the crucial match of the pre-World Cup repechage against Australia or the United Arab Emirates in Doha, Qatar.
