April is a month with great surprises, since within these dates there are important events in the world and, one of them is astronomical events. The Pink Moon is a shocking event, but what is its name due to? Why is this moon so called?
Given this, it is essential to clear the doubts and we will begin by revealing that the Pink Moon is nothing more than the full moon. That is , both are about the same fact, only there is a slight difference that we will tell you later.
You should be clear that the full moon is a moon phase, and this event happens once every four weeks, making it known that the phase is in the middle of its season. The full moon is also the opposite of the new moon.
PINK MOON AND THE REASON FOR HER NAME
The Permanent Seminar on Astronomy and Space Science (SPACE) of the Faculty of Physical Sciences of the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, through its social networks, expresses the reason why the full moon in April is called Pink Moon.
It is not that the Moon when you look at it in the sky has a pink color; that does not necessarily happen. According to SPACE UNMSM, the name Luna Rosa is due to the fact that the full moon in April is given just on the date when the Mossy Phlox blooms.
Native to the eastern and central United States, the Mossy Phlox is a species of plant, whose flowers are small, but abundant and are pink.
OTHER ASTRONOMICAL EVENTS
Through the Special Agency of Peru - Conida we can know that one of the following astronomical events is that of the new moon, which on some occasions is also known as the “Black Moon”. This will take place on April 30, exactly at 3:28 p.m. in the constellation Aries, with our natural satellite located 396520 km from Earth.
However, that will not be the only event, since that same day there will be the partial eclipse of the Sun. According to Conida's explanations, it can be understood that “the Moon will bite the Sun slightly” and that this fact will be seen more clearly in the areas of southern Peru.
ECLIPSE PARCIAL DEL SOL
As we mentioned, the partial eclipse will be seen from southern Peru. The places from which it will be seen most clearly will be Moquegua, Apurimac, Arequipa, Ayacucho, Huancavelica, Ica, Puno and Tacna.
The time at which the eclipse will begin will be from 4:30 p.m. and will end at approximately 5:00 p.m. Note that solar eclipses can be dangerous if viewed directly, so if you want to appreciate this natural wonder is better to use appropriate astronomical glasses.
This partial eclipse is also known as “the small bite of the Moon to the Sun” and is the first of 2022.
FASES LUNARES
New Moon: This is the moon phase in which the Moon does not reflect light and is not visible from Earth.
Crescent room: It is the phase of the Moon between the new moon and the full moon, by which it remains illuminated in its right half.
Full Moon: Moon phase in which the Moon becomes visible when it reflects light in its entirety and is perceived as an illuminated disk.
Waning Moon: After the full moon, this is the moon phase in which the Moon becomes visible when only its left side reflects light. It's the end and beginning of the moon phase.
