Ingrid Betancourt's reaction when she was asked to send greetings to Uribe from Soacha's mothers

The presidential candidates continue in their careers to reach the May 29 elections well positioned in public opinion, for this reason they attend debates, interviews or any type of space where they have the opportunity to speak. In this case, the candidate for the Green Oxygen party, Ingrid Betancourt, attended the program 'La Tele Letal', by journalists and actors Santiago Moure and Martín de Francisco, who interviewed her with their particular style.

Ingrid Betancourt was addressed with different topics, but especially the approaches with former president Álvaro Uribe Vélez, given that one of his campaign flags has been to move away from the so-called machinery.

Well, Betancourt said that just as he spoke to the FARC after his kidnapping, he will talk to Uribe, to whom he owes his freedom, through Operation Jaque. In addition, he pointed out that talking to different sectors does not imply immediate unions.

Ingrid said, jokingly, “you guys, what do you want me to say to you? I play the spokesperson”, to which Moure replied:

Finally, the candidate said that she was going to ask Uribe if she could record the conversation to record the answers, to which Moure asked her: “You know what? send him greetings from the mothers of Soacha.” Ingrid was silent watching him and he, to break the ice, added: “What a nice way to end the program” (See minute 35).

What Santiago Moure said refers to one of the most scandalous and reproached events towards the State, especially during the Government of Uribe: the extrajudicial execution of millions of young people in the 2000s, mainly the disappearance of the 19 young people in the municipality of Soacha and surrounding areas.

It should be recalled that earlier this year, the defense of the former president, led by lawyer Jaime Granados, requested that the Constitutional Court rejected the guardianship filed by former President Álvaro Uribe in which he argued that his fundamental right to due process and defense, so he sought to have his accused status withdrawn, but that in that high court they denied in November 2021.

What they were looking for was for the investigating body to have the capacity to decide on the allegation instead of taking the one already made by the Supreme Court, which found sufficient evidence that Uribe had bribed witnesses (convicted paramilitaries such as Juan Guillermo Monsalve) to change their version that his brother, Santiago He and Uribe founded a block of armed self-defense groups in the Hacienda Guacharacas, owned by the Uribe.
