“They wanted to cover up the Putumayo massacre with the encampment of Petro, but they didn't succeed”: Gustavo Bolivar

The Senator of the Historical Pact defended the presidential candidate against strong criticism for “social forgiveness” and his brother's visit to prisoners like Iván Moreno in La Picota

Despite the fact that congressmen of the Historical Pact defended presidential candidate Gustavo Petro, the criticism against him does not stop from different sectors following his proposal for “social pardon” and the meeting of his brother, Juan Fernando Petro, with former senator Iván Moreno and others convicted of corruption in La Jail Picota, from Bogota. This time the protagonist was Senator Gustavo Bolivar.

Through his Twitter account, Bolívar said that there was an “encampment” against Petro to “cover up” the military operation in which 11 people died in Putumayo.

It should be noted that, the top of the list of the Historical Pact in the last legislative elections also underestimated an audio revealed days ago in which Marcos de Jesús Figueroa, known as 'Marquitos Figueroa', is heard, expressing her support for Petro.

Then, in another message, the senator said: “If anyone close believes or even doubts that Petro is capable of alliing himself with the murderers' Gordo 'García, Marquitos Figueroa and the corrupt Moreno brothers, they don't know Petro, they don't know his struggles, they have to sit down one day to watch the videos of their debates.”

Senator-elect María José Pizarro joined the controversy and assured that there is a “plan to muddy” Petro.

And he added: “Of course, they are frightened, they tremble because they lose the power they have accumulated for 200 years. They will use every dirty strategy at their disposal in order not to allow a change of course for Colombia. Given that a lot of cool heads, don't be confused, we're going to win!

Similarly, César Pachón, senator-elect, mentioned on his social networks: “Chapter 1: Petro denounces intentions to litter his campaign from prison. Cap.2: La Picota is invited to an NGO where Petro's brother works. Cap 3: Just someone films his arrival in prison. Chap. 4: Audios appear of prisoners saying they vote for Petro. This way or more obvious? ”.

After Petro responded to the La W radio station that Juan Fernando — a worker of the Inter-Church Justice and Peace Commission — was working on a project of social forgiveness with these convicts, politicians from all sectors — including his opponents — responded and even called for him to renounce his presidential aspiration.

The candidate had to go out and explain what his brother is doing in the Inter-Church Commission, showed the letter inviting the NGO to prison to discuss issues of prisoners' rights and admitted that Juan Fernando Petro was not sent to La Picota on behalf of the campaign.

In the middle of Good Friday, Gustavo Petro answered an interview for Cambio magazine to talk about this and other issues. He added an additional element to the controversy: according to the left-wing candidate, the Attorney General's Office would be carrying out a strategy of encampment against him and his campaign, so that several of his close collaborators act with great caution in certain situations.

The candidate noted that he has been set up on various fronts, such as trying to seduce people close to him with sums of money for the campaign, which would later be marked as hot money before public opinion.
