The world spy thriller will return to screens next month and we already have the first official teaser shared by Apple TV+. The next episodes of Tehran, the Emmy-winning series, will continue to chronicle Tamar's journey in the execution of a new plan following the failure of a major which he undertook in the capital of Iran. In this continuation, the cast added the Golden Globe winner and eight-time Oscar nominee Glenn Close, in the role of Marjan Montazeri.
According to the original events seen in the title debut in 2020, Tamar (Niv Sultan) is a Mossad hacker-agent who infiltrated Tehran under a false identity to help destroy Iran's nuclear reactor. However, he misses his goal and triggers an operation that could endanger his loved ones.
In addition to Close and Sultan, the cast of the production includes Shaun Toub, Shervin Alenabi, Arash Marandi, Shila Ommi, Menashe Noy, Navid Negahban, Liraz Charhi, Qais Khan, Sogand Sara Fakheri, Reza Diako, Dan Mor, Arash Marandi, Danny Sher, Moe Bar-El and Ash Goldeh.
Tehran is the brainchild of Moshe Zonder, Dana Eden and Maor Kohn. The film was directed by Daniel Syrkin and the script is the result of the collaboration of Omri Shenhar and Zonder. Executive production features Dana Eden and Shula Spiegel for Donna and Shula Productions; Alon Aranya for Paper Plane Productions; Julien Leroux for Paper Entertainment; Peter Emerson for Cineflix Studios; and Eldad Koblenz for Kan 11. Zonder, Shenhar, Syrkin, and Dari Shai Slutzky are also executive producers.
Tehran, the acclaimed Israeli fiction about spies
According to the official synopsis of the service, the series tells “the exciting story of Mossad agent Tamar Rabinyan, who infiltrates a dangerous mission in Tehran that puts her and everyone around her in grave danger.” The television bet debuted two years ago through the original Apple TV+ catalog and, shortly after, was recognized by the International Emmy Awards with the award for Best Drama Series.
In February of this year, it was confirmed that Tehran will release its first two episodes on May 6 and the rest of them will be released every Friday until the end of the season (consisting of eight episodes in total) set for June 17. The first installment can currently be seen on the streaming service.
