The passion of Christ: this suffered actor Jim Caviezel, the man who saw God

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he stated that he felt a “great presence” that accompanied him, which he associated with the almighty. He stated that his goal was not to be recognized as the actor who played Jesus, but to be the means to know what Jesus experienced in his adult stage until he was crucified.

To the same media outlet he indicated that his body experienced suffering. “My shoulder was crooked and dislocated every time someone hit the cross. While we were shooting the scenes of the flogging, the whips hit me twice and I had a 14-centimeter wound on my back. My lungs were full of fluid and I had pneumonia.”

Caviezel explained that in one of the scenes that he had to carry the heavy wooden cross, he fell and the element was positioned on top of him, hitting him and causing it to bleed from his face and mouth. This is how the spectators of the Passion of Christ saw real wounds and not elaborate thanks to the magic of makeup.

After its release, Mel Gibson's film won 3 nominations for the Oscar, the National Board of Review and the Critics' Choice Awards.
