On May 29, the first round of the presidential elections will take place in Colombia and, in the month that remains, the presidential candidates and their vice-presidential formulas take care of any statement that could take away their votes. In the midst of election season, it is common to talk about the money politicians own and how they spend it; recently, Rodolfo Hernandez revealed that he paid 420 million in a luxury vehicle.

The presidential candidate's statements were recorded in the middle of a recent interview that the politician gave 'Juanpis Gonzalez'. In addition to talking about his proposals to become President of the Republic, Rodolfo Hernández gave details about his personal life. He pointed out that, from a very young age, he has had to work, since his family is of peasant origin, to get the money.

Do you know who helped me make money? The poor... I have made very good products for them and they buy from me and from each product I earn a little bit, little by little I have added capital that allows me to now be in politics without worrying about receiving money from any funder so that I can then submit”, explained the independent candidate.

The character created by comedian Alejandro Riaño asked Hernandez about his new vehicle, which arrived in the country just over a year after he bought it. This is a Porsche Cayenne pickup that, depending on the model, can cost between 90 thousand and 200 thousand dollars. The former mayor of Bucaramanga said that, in fact, he waited for almost two years for the car he bought from the German luxury manufacturer, but that he would not accept criticism about it, since it was a purchase made with clean and worked money.

I have been in the sun and in the water for 52 years, I have never been a public servant, I have never had a contract with the State, nor with the department, nor with the municipality, or with anyone,” the candidate stressed at first and then pointed out that with “the savings of 50 years and I bought a van... and this one criticized me.” However, 'Juanpis Gonzalez' clarified that he was not criticizing him, but he wanted to know how he had acquired the expensive vehicle and whether it had been worth waiting so long to release it.

Rodolfo Hernandez acknowledged that he wanted to buy the luxury vehicle, so he used his savings to fulfill that dream. “I had to pay 420 million pesos, two years ago. And I had to pay it a year before and wait for the queue, when I bought it, there were 400,000 trucks sold in front of me,” he explained.

The politician seized the moment to point out that what Colombia needs to improve its economy is to have brands of Porsche quality. According to Hernández, the country has not been able to take advantage of the raw material that is produced to create internationally recognized brands. He added that the product that could have the most impact in the world is coffee.

We don't have a brand, the only thing is coffee from Colombia... we are selling at $5,000 a pound of coffee and with a pound they make 50 espressos and do you know how much an espresso costs at Starbucks? for the transformation there is a big profit left for the company. What I'm saying is, let's do those processes in Colombia, so that the peasants are the ones who get the income. We export raw materials, others transform them and we buy them again, we are stupid,” Hernández concluded, noting that in his government he would implement this issue in the country.
