Mauricio Ochmann is an actor who has stood out for his charisma throughout his career, however, his personal life has not been without difficult moments.
On this occasion, the protagonist of Qué Despadre reflected during an interview with youtuber Roberto Martínez on the influence that being able to go to a rehabilitation center had on him when his problems were drug addiction and alcoholism surpassed him.
“It was difficult to reach the decisive moment to enter life. I don't know if what I'm saying makes sense, but since I was on a road to death, surviving all situations and reaching the decisive moment of saying 'This is my life and I want to live, I don't want to survive', because there is a difference. It was connecting with that part and saying: 'This is for me' (...) At that moment I raised my hand, asked for help and went to the rehabilitation center,” he said.
Likewise, the actor noted that when he started this process, he realized that there were professional people who understood what he was going through.
“There were professional people who knew how to help me channel everything I was going through and I met colleagues who were dealing with similar things in their own way and with their processes, so there is a bridge of understanding,” Ochmann commented.
In this regard, Mauricio commented that hospitalization was a big decision in his life, because he gave himself the opportunity to grow up, to make substances and stopped using substances to escape.
“My consumption level was very strong, but it was functional. Although there were times when I felt that I was dying doing the project or getting interned, and I made the decision to go into the hospital and I faced all the consequences that entailed, because for me it was a very nice experience,” he said.
Regarding her departure from the center, Ochmann pointed out that she had to struggle to find balance, because she became someone very hard on herself.
“When I recovered, I was suddenly told that I became immaculate (...) I went from one extreme to another and then I had to find my balance. That's why I recommend therapy, you have to get to know each other, look for balance. You don't go to therapy because you're crazy, but because you have to get to know each other,” he said.
It should be recalled that in 2021, in an interview with Mara Patricia Castañeda, the actor of the film And what is he like? said that during his youth, due to school abuse, adoption processes and social rejection, he fell into alcoholism.
The actor explained that since he was a boy, what happened was that “a beer crossed him” and since then he had severe problems to stop drinking. Something that defined him for so many years among his loved ones and that years later would lead him to ask for help.
“To something inside he told me: 'This is not you, this is not around here', but it lasted until I was 28 years old, a late adolescence and at 28 that's when I raised my hand and asked for help,” he said at the time.
