José Manuel Sánchez Cruz, Manu Vquita, owner of the bar where former governor of Jalisco, Aristotle Sandoval, was murdered, admitted his cover-up at the crime scene by asking his staff to keep the place clean in fear that the restaurant Distrito 5 would be shut down.
During his liaison hearing, the businessman denied that he was responsible for the PRI's execution, but he recounted his interventions that hindered the authorities' investigations, since 16 months after the events, there are still no specific perpetrators for the case that shocked the country from Puerto Vallarta.
“Yes, I was afraid of a closure, I didn't know what was going on,” he argued about his requests that the blood be cleaned and the stained carpet also removed.
According to local reports, the appearance was scheduled for 09:30 this Glory Saturday, but began an hour and a half later. The wife of Aristotle Sandoval, Lorena Jassibe, and Javier García, the family's legal counsel, arrived at the District VIII Court of Control and Oral Trial in Puerto Vallarta.
The Jalisco Public Prosecutor's Office had already reported that cleaning the site was a key element in delaying investigations, hence the employees were arrested, prosecuted and then released after taking advantage of shortened procedures.
According to the authorities, they also acted to remove the video surveillance cameras, but some images were recovered. The videos were able to obtain the participation of a man and a woman, identified as material authors and for whom a reward of up to one million pesos was offered, but they have not been captured.
