Freddy Rincón: what is known about the women who accompanied him in the van

María Manuela Patiño and Diana Lorena Cortés accompanied the former footballer in the vehicle on the day of the traffic accident

The Colombian justice system concentrates its work to clarify the facts of the death of Freddy Eusebio Rincón. The family of the former footballer, who died at the age of 55, knows that the one who was driving was someone else, who fled, and therefore, they expect him to “open up” and report to the authorities. Sebastián Rincón, one of the former footballer sons, said: “Let's hope that my God does justice and that the Prosecutor's Office does its job.”

The preliminary traffic report states that Freddy “was mobilizing as a co-pilot (receiving the impact of the crash)” and that Maria Manuela Patiño, 20, and Diana Lorena Cortés, 43, were with the former footballer, who had already left the medical center where they were being treated.

It is striking that one of the women initially stated that Rincón was the one who was driving, so Sebastian said: “My dad was not driving and that leaves me very calm because, in the face of false accusations, sooner or later everything will come to light”.

The two women are the key witnesses to establish the identities of those who were in the vehicle and will be summoned in the coming days by the Attorney General's Office to give an account of the facts.

Authorities in Cali are working to rebuild a timeline - through security cameras - to pinpoint the route of the car and track two men who were in the van and then left without helping Rincón.

The images captured by record the exact moment when the UGR 410 license plate truck ran the red light against a MIO bus when it was 4:30 in the morning of April 11.

In the same way, two people are seen, getting out of the van and quickly boarding a taxi. Researchers trace the license plates of this car to locate the driver and establish where he took them.

Another video that is on social networks, is of a passerby after the crash, in which a man is seen obfuscated by the cell phone record, even threatening the person because he is filming.

This Saturday, starting at noon, a heartfelt tribute is expected to take place at the Pascual Guerrero Stadium, the temple where Rincón shone with the América de Cali shirt.

Vladimir Mosquera, friend of Freddy Rincón, revealed some data about what was a part of the former player's Sunday night, hours before the serious accident.

In dialogue with the newspaper 'El Pais' in Cali, he said that on April 10 Rincón was having a couple of friends at the house of salsa musician Harold Saa. “We were sharing at Harold's house. There were Freddy, former mayor of Buenaventura Édison Bioscar Ruiz and a couple of other friends. As we always do, we talked about football, watched some matches of the Colombian tournament, and then we listened to salsa because Freddy was passionate about salsa. I went to the house. Then I woke up to the news of the accident,” Mosquera said.

Finally, the close friend indicated that he had no knowledge about whether after that meeting he would have gone to another place, he assured that until he was with the former football player he had not ingested liquor.

This is a family home where we have always been welcomed as brothers, there is a lot of speculation on that subject, there is more talk, but Freddy was totally sober”.
