In the early hours of last Monday, April 11, Freddy Eusebio Rincón suffered a dramatic traffic accident in the city of Cali. The vehicle in which he was driving, crossed a red light and was hit hard by a feeder bus of the MÍO (massive transport system). The clash caused the former player of the Colombia national team serious injuries, so he was transferred to the Imbanaco Clinic. On Wednesday, April 13, at half past eleven in the evening, the doctor Laureano Quintero, in the company of his children confirmed the news, 'El Colosso' died.

We ask all of you to please honor and exalt the life of Freddy Eusebio for all the joys he gave us, for everything that made us vibrate many times from many corners of this planet thanks to his wonderful display of life and his wonderful sporting display. Let's honor his life as he deserves it,” said the chief physician at the press conference.

Since then, there have been many manifestations of solidarity and affection with the relatives of the Colombian football legend. Players, former footballers, coaches, clubs, followers, among others, expressed all their love to Rincón. On social networks, one of the memories that has been most shared by people was that mythical goal against Germany in the World Cup in Italy 90. A score that came a minute after Pierre Littbarski's goal: a wonderfully executed collective play that ended in a leaked pass for 'El Colosso' to send the ball to the back of the net.
