This Saturday, April 16, the death of a 23-year-old was announced in La Poza, a place as is known part of the San Felipe Orizatlán river in the State of Hidalgo, where according to the first reports, the young man identified as Ariel died of drowning while enjoying his vacation with some friends.

Elements of the Hidalgo State Security Agency (ASEH) attended the emergency, but when they arrived at the place the affected person no longer had vital signs, so they added to the negative death statistics for vacationers during the Easter break in 2022.

At least 10 traveler deaths have been reported in national and local media so far this April, most of them from drowning on Mexican beaches, so alarms were triggered to prevent accidents and swim responsibly.

In addition to the last reported death in the state of Hidalgo, which occurred on the afternoon of Friday, April 15, at least six deaths were recorded in the last three days in the waters of Veracruz, Quintana Roo and Oaxaca.

In the town of La Guacamaya in the municipality of Chiconquiaco, Veracruz, a 19-year-old man threw a dive into a pool but got tangled in some branches, so he couldn't get afloat and died of drowning.

Similarly, in the sea of Boca del Rio, a father and his son were washed away by the tide, so minutes after entering the crisis, a lifeguard came in to remove those affected, but he was only able to save the child under 14 years of age together with the support of some tourists.

On the other hand, in the same state of Veracruz, inside the Barbechos River, another father and son died of drowning according to La Jornada, who did not receive help until they were already without vital signs.

At the same time, Civil Protection of Guerrero has reported several movements to rescue tourists to avoid drowning, so they urged visitors to be careful when enjoying the beach and the sea.

Returning to the peninsula, on April 7, a person suffered congestion in Puerto Progreso, Yucatan, who entered the sea to swim but began to suffer a crisis, so he was treated by emergency units, who after stabilizing him transferred him to a nearby hospital, where he eventually died.

One of the last reported deaths occurred at the Yosocuta dam in Oaxaca, where a man about 35 years old, from the State of Mexico, died of drowning.

According to Quadrantin, Huajuapan Civil Protection personnel were able to rescue the body of the affected person, who went swimming in the dam. Moments later, they urged tourists to avoid deep areas during the holidays.

These sea-related deaths were compounded by at least two more deaths of tourists related to motor vehicle accidents.

On the Mexicali-San Felipe highway, a 23-year-old woman from Sonora lost her life after the car she was transporting with two friends overturned; while in Sinaloa, three people were hit by a tourist van in Tecualilla, after wanting to avoid a Fiscal Inspectorate filter, where one of those affected lost his life.

In this way, deaths related to the Easter holidays have been reported throughout the Mexican Republic, mainly due to drowning, so rescue plans have been reinforced in each of the states with a high influx of travelers.
