The political pullas and indirect policies of the investigated former president Álvaro Uribe Vélez against the presidential candidate Gustavo Petro do not stop. This time, the former senator brought out the “social forgiveness” that has him at the center of the debate.

Through his Twitter account, the former president quoted the gods of the Catholic Church and, with an ironic Holy Week message, he assured that he no longer needs to ask his deities for forgiveness because “Petro's forgiveness would suffice.”

Moreover, he even mentioned the upcoming presidential elections in Colombia and in which Petro continues to lead the voting intention, according to the latest electoral polls. Uribe's questioning adds to another round of multiple clashes between two of the most influential politicians in recent history in Colombia. In fact, a few days ago, the party led by Uribe, the Democratic Center, denounced that the candidate of the Historical Pact stole an idea from the natural head of that collective.

The discussion began on Twitter, where candidate Petro wrote that he plans, to arrive at Casa de Nariño, to reform the school curriculum in the country so that in the last two years of training a chair focused on digital programming will be implemented. According to the politician, this measure could help position the country as a power in the technology sector.

Hours later, the Democratic Center replied to the candidate that this proposal had already been submitted by Uribe in 2020 and that, even, he filed it before the Congress of the Republic. The party took advantage of the situation to signal Petro to steal ideas.

“Mr. Gustavo Petro, the proposal you have just launched is not yours, it is authored by Álvaro Uribe and his party, the Democratic Center, which was filed on July 20, 2020. It is already democratizing even ideas,” the movement wrote on Twitter.

It should not be forgotten that Álvaro Uribe's questioning of Petro's social forgiveness is added to another of the questions that the former mayor of Bogotá. For example, the presidential candidate of the Centro Esperanza Coalition, Sergio Fajardo, who has been one of Petro's main critics in recent days, issued a statement in which he also took the opportunity to throw pullas at another of the candidates, Federico 'Fico' Gutiérrez.

Another one who was not silent about Petro's controversial proposal was the candidate for President for the Oxygen Green party, Ingrid Betancourt. Going to prisons to propose impunity in exchange for votes, what more moral decay than that? Colombia must do the opposite, it must send very clear messages that those who commit crimes by robbing Colombians of their future and resources must go to jail and have to have a sanction that impoverishes them,” said Betancourt, while saying that Petro's idea encourages corruption.
