The Congress of the Republic seeks that members of the Pension Fund Administrators (AFP), as well as those who contribute to insurance companies, receive economic loans according to the contributions they have performed.
This bill was introduced by Congressman Carlos Zeballos, spokesman for the Democratic Peru Bank, which also states that the amount of the loan is based on the ability of the member or pensioner to pay.
“Provide that Pension Fund Administrators (AFP) and Insurance Companies make loans to their members and pensioners through agreements with financial institutions”, the proposal indicates.
“According to the income from your remuneration or pension you receive in your individual account or fund paid to the insurance company and in charge of future pensions. Loans will be made, taking into account the age of the beneficiaries,” the text continues.
The Zeballos initiative details that for “persons aged 83 or older, the loan will be made for a period of 12 months, for the maximum amount of SI. 2,000.00 soles”.
“Between 78 years and up to 82 years, the loan will be made for a period of 24 months, for the maximum amount of SI. 3,000.00 soles. Between the ages of 60 and 77, the loan will be made for a period of 48 months, for the maximum amount of SI. 30,000.00 soles”, specifies the bill.
In this line, it is explained that people between 18 and 59 years old will be able to benefit more, since they will have access to a period of 60 months for the maximum amount of 50,000 soles
“The loan may be granted at the request of the client, with or without a grace period of up to four months, with automatic payment of monthly installments from the individual account of the affiliate or pensioner or fund handed over to the insurance company, so the information in the risk centers”, he points out.
Finally, the initiative specifies that it will be the Superintendency of Banking and Insurance (SBS) that will establish the interest in “minimum and reasonable percentages”, taking into account that the loans are made with the support of the funds of members and pensioners.
