Jorge Negrete and Carmen Sevilla came to work together only once and, although their relationship was very good, Charro Cantor refused to kiss her the times when he had to do it according to his script, but he had to agree to have a minimum approach so that the scenes could be recorded.

It was in June 1948 when Jorge Negrete came to Spain in his role as an artist to record his first film in that country. He was very well received by his fans and who would be his co-workers, among whom was Carmen Seville, one of the promises of cinema of that time.

Seville and El Charro Cantor met when Jalisco began production in Seville, a Mexican-Spanish production directed by Fernando de Fuentes and the first film in which she would be the protagonist.

Carmen was a proclaimed fan of Charro Cantor, like most women back then, and she considered it an honor to work with the person she considered her idol, so from the beginning the chemistry between the two was very good.

However, it wasn't the chemistry they needed as partners in a romance movie, because they never saw each other as anything other than friends.

The film by Jalisco in Seville is about a charro (Negrete) that arrives in Seville, where he hopes to claim an inheritance amid his ruin for gambling. There, the protagonist of the story meets Araceli (Carmen), with whom he is romantically related.

Throughout the film the Guanajuato maintained a very good friendship with his colleague, whom he saw as almost a disciple, so when the first scene in which they had to kiss came, he said he couldn't do it.

As Sevilla shared in The Story Behind the Myth, Jorge stopped filming several times because he said he couldn't kiss her since she could be like his daughter because of the age difference, because while she was only 18 years old, he was 37. Even the actress claimed that he never kissed her.

Let them cut! If it can be my daughter, man. How am I going to kiss her? ”, the protagonist of Two Types of Care would have told Fernando de Fuentes during the recordings.

Since everyone was tired that every time he had to approach her in a romantic way he was simply reluctant to do so, they agreed that he would just hug her, they would try to put their lips together and at that moment the shot had to be cut off.

He didn't kiss me or anything, he just gave me a hug, but the little mouth kiss didn't give it to me,” recalled the so-called Bride of Spain.

Because of these incidents, Carmen shared that filming the end of the film, where they had to kiss, was very funny because of the reaction that Charro Cantor had because every time he was mistaken or was noticeable his disappointment at having to join his lips with those of his partner, the shot had to be cut off and start it one more time.

For her part, the Spaniard was more than happy to share scenes with the performer of Ojos Tapatios, but on many occasions she mistakenly repeated some of her dialogues or stuck talking, according to her, for “seeing him so handsome”.

In addition to the fact that Jalisco sings in Seville, it was where the historian had her first leading role, it was also the first Spanish film in which Jorge Negrete participated after refusing to arrive in Spain because of his political ideology.
