23 days after what could be considered one of the best fights of the year, Eddie Hearn, promoter of the brawl between Saul Alvarez and Dmitry Bivol, spoke about the complexity of the challenge that the best pound-for-pound is about to tackle. The president of Matchroom Boxing assured that the qualities of the Russian boxer could i/ijeopardize ibCanelo's impeccable career and, even, ventured to say that it could be the most difficult fight in the career of the tapatio boxer.
During his weekly intervention on The DAZN Boxing Show, Hearn announced his caution about the possible outcome of the fight between the Mexican and the Russian. He even refused to confirm the possible rematch between Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin until he knew the physical condition of Eddy Reynoso's ward after the fight.
“I've seen clips of Bivol. It looks sensational in the mittens, its footwork, its movement, its striking power. I'm telling you now, this may be the toughest fight of ibCanelo Alvarez's career outside Floyd Mayweather. It's a really tough fight,” he stated in the program produced by the platform.
Bivol's numbers throughout his eight-year career have supported his appointment as champion with strong arguments. Since November 2014 he has not known the defeat and of the 19 victories he has accumulated, 11 have been achieved through the knockout. Meanwhile, he has been proclaimed monarch by the World Boxing Association (WBA) since May 21, 2016 and throughout ten confrontations.
On the other hand, images of the training camp to which Dmitry Bivol is subject have been released in recent days. In the different materials, the semi-complete weight fighter has surprised with his good physical condition and the recognized striking power he has exhibited in the ensogado. Their combinations and mental strength have raised the expectation among the fans for the show that they can offer on May 7, 2022.
Bivol is not listed as the fighter with the most unified belts in the 175 pounds. His compatriot Arthur Beterbiev has the belts of the World Boxing Council (WBC) and the International Boxing Federation (IBF), as well as an impressive undefeated record of 17 fights for the same number of knockouts. While these achievements could place him as the division's rival to win, Hearn considered Bivol the most dangerous character.
“If you talk about destruction and power, (Arthur) Beterbiev is the guy. If you talk about technique mixed with a little hitting power, intelligence and freshness, you're talking about Dmitry Bivol. Beterbiev is old. There are signs against Callum Johnson, against these guys. When did you see Dmitry Bivol hurt in a fight? When have you ever seen Dmitry Bivol really look like he could lose a fight? How good is Dmitr Bivol? Let's find out,” he said.
