The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry released a video this Friday, on the 50th day of the Russian invasion, calling on the world to ban trade with the Kremlin, channels linked to its state media propaganda and close airspace “to prevent Russia from killing more civilians.”
“In Ukraine, the Kremlin uses the tactic of deliberately using deception and false information. Its aim is to create pretexts to justify the invasion of Russia and to undermine Western support for Ukraine,” says the Foreign Ministry video.
Ukraine argues that Russia uses an old Soviet military tactic called “Maskirovka”, which, according to the video, consists of deliberately using deception and false information to mislead the enemy.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, thanked the Ukrainian people for their resistance to Russia's “brutal assault” on 50 days since the start of the war.
“Thank God, the Armed Forces of Ukraine and our people, we have defended most of our country,” said the Ukrainian president in his daily address to the Ukrainian population.
Zelensky explained that he remembers the first day of the Russian invasion of Ukraine because “no one was sure” that he and his country would be able to survive, and he confessed that many political leaders advised him to leave the country.
“To put it mildly, no one was sure we would survive. Everyone sympathized. Many advised to leave the country. Advised to really surrender to tyranny,” he said.
The courage and desire for freedom of Ukrainians have been key to an unexpected surprise, according to the President of Ukraine, who used the message to warn Russia that “it will be responsible for everything it has done in Ukraine.”
“They will be responsible for Bucha, Kramatorsk, Volnovaja, Ohtirka. From Gostomel and Borodianka. From Izium, Mariupol and all other cities and communities in Ukraine, which the Russian Army rejected 80 years ago,” Zelensky assured.
