The day Checo Pérez ended up flipping during the Hungarian GP 2015

Sergio Pérez has had numerous accidents throughout his career in Formula 1 and on different scales, with which he suffered at the 2011 Monaco GP as the most remembered by his fans because of the brief minutes he spent unconscious; however, there is another who also took care of stealing covers at the time.

This is the one who suffered during the Hungarian Grand Prix 2015, when the Tapatio was in its second year on board the Sahara Force India team and was racing with the aim of regenerating interest in winning teams.

This was not the best weekend to prove it, because from the beginning everything started uphill. It was during the first free practice that Checo Pérez lost control of his car after passing through turn 13 at the famous Hungaroring circuit.

Although he bent correctly, he remained on the starting pianos and the flat bottom began to bounce to the extent that he lost control on the front tires, so he could not correct the direction and skidded until he crashed into a retaining wall.

The bulky thing about the incident happened after its front wheels naturally detached from the axle, so while it broke, the left front caused a kind of hook when it got under the car, which caused the whole car to start spinning in the air.

The car was completely turned upside down, with Checo trapped inside, so he had to need outside help to be able to rejoin correctly.

Once out of the car, the Mexican greeted the fans and was able to walk without major problem, so he wanted to immediately imply that he was fine in the physical aspect.

“Yes, it was a really bad accident, very unfortunate. The track was very dirty and I went on the wrong side of the track. (The crash) was at a very bad angle, which caused the car to turn, but everything is fine,” said the tapatio after the impact.

He later explained that it had been a very strange accident and blamed the dirt on the track for losing control of the Force India he was driving at that time, so his bad record on the Hungarian circuit was confirmed.

Historically, Checo Pérez has not been doing in the best way in Hungaroring, because despite the fact that this accident happened during a practice, he already abandoned due to problems in the suspension and added two consecutive withdrawals from the Hungarian GP.

Until the end of 2021, the overall balance of the Jalisco in the ten races he has played in Hungary is as follows: three retirements, five positions outside the points and only two GP in the top 10, with eighth place as the best result.

Because of this issue, Hungary does not seem to be the best scenario for Checo Pérez, but at least during the 2015 season he was able to get a podium in the Russian GP, with which he began his formidable end of the season.

The Mexican finished with 78 points and in ninth place in the 2015 Drivers' Championship, his best results since reaching Formula 1, but which would serve to improve confidence inside the team and position him as one of the rivals to beat in the middle of the table.
