The most representative days of Easter have arrived and the memes did not wait to explode on social networks. Twitter, Facebook and Instagram users are involved in the creation of hundreds of humorous texts, images, videos on the theme of Easter that has quickly spread on the internet.
Very funny memes from this Good Friday soon appeared. Some of these are recycled because they are published year after year and for that reason many people have complained on networks that they are always the same, however, there are many new and original ones that are being talked about a lot.
Finally, the opportunity has come to rest, whether you leave home or stay, we must not lose sight of the funniest memes of this season. Below we leave some.
On the one hand, there are memes referring to Lent, which lasts for a period of forty days (from Ash Wednesday to Holy Thursday) in which the believer is forbidden to consume red meat. This period represents a time to reflect and purify oneself from all the sins committed.
Then there are memes referring to holidays, since there is a percentage of people who do not have the possibility of going on a trip during Easter, either because of work or other situations.
The typical memes of Rodolfo Guzmán have not been missing either and are already part of a Mexican tradition. This man nicknamed The Silver Mask or El Santo dedicated himself to wrestling, being one of the most famous wrestlers in Mexico, due to his nickname is that memes have emerged in reference to him and Easter.
There are other types of memes that only refer to Jesus and his experiences but they are portrayed with humor. For example, the meme below shows Jesus posting on his networks that he is going to the gym in order to carry his cross. This reference comes from the current generation, when young people upload motivational photos to their Instagram or Facebook stories, putting phrases like: “to give the gym that you have beautiful legs they don't stay alone”.
Last but not least, there are images with a very white humor, one could say that the simplest for some to digest.
The current reach of these types of images (memes) is impressive. They are funny, witty, sarcastic and irreverent but they are already part of our culture. Despite being a product of the digital age, they are actually synonymous with a medium of expression. The British scientific popularizer Richard Dawkins coined the word to refer to it as the minimum unit of cultural transmission, that is, the meme is a symbolic conceptualization that is reproduced to understand reality in a different way.
Memes have great power in the present time due to their ability to reproduce immediately as well as to allow us to understand certain topics or concepts through them. In addition, they become analogies of representative moments in daily life. Their marketing potential is enormous because they manage to engage people almost automatically. Although the memes began by targeting young audiences, they now also reach audiences of older generations.
