In the last hours, the Mayor's Office of Malambo decreed the dry law in the municipality in order to preserve public order and avoid disturbance due to excessive noise during Holy Week.
“The dry law is decreed for Thursday and Good Friday. This, in order to guarantee the inhabitants of the municipality in terms of the disturbance of excessive noise due to this issue of festivals or commercial establishments in order to guarantee religious festivities and that they can be held in Malambo, “said Javier Torres, Secretary of Municipal Government.
Thus, from 12:00 a.m. on Holy Thursday until 6:00 a.m. on Holy Saturday, the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages is prohibited in the municipality, in accordance with Decree No. 136 of April 12, 2022.
The municipal administration stressed that the measure also aims to prevent traffic accidents, so the community is invited to live a time of protection and reflection these days.
“Take advantage of these days to be in communication with God, reflect and be in healthy coexistence with neighbors, family members and all the people of the municipality,” added Secretary Torres.
The Atlantic Transit Office announced that operational controls were installed, in the company of the Highway Police, to ensure safe mobility for all travellers who will travel during Easter 2022.
Likewise, it was arranged that, on the roads, traffic personnel give road safety recommendations to drivers, accompanied by a cup of coffee, in order to minimize the risks of accidents.
According to the director of Atlantic Transit, Susana Cadavid, it is expected that in the next two days the traffic flow will increase considerably on the access and exit roads of the department, through which the traffic of approximately 160,000 vehicles is estimated at the summit days of Major Week.
“For these 160,000 potential vehicles that take the main roads of the Atlantic, we have put in place operational road safety controls in order to protect the lives of citizens, based on the fact that prevention and compliance with the rules make a difference on the roads. We will cover an area of 17 municipalities that are part of our jurisdiction and we will be there with education and road safety,” said the director of Atlantic Transit.
In addition, Cadavid explained that mobility recommendations will be given to citizens on the roads, which will come hand in hand with the campaigns 'Coffee by the way' and 'Earn the most expensive drink of your life', to motivate citizens to take active breaks when driving for long periods of time, not to exceed the limits of speed, keep 1.5 meters away with cyclists on the road and, above all, do not drive while intoxicated.
Last Wednesday, April 13, the Secretary General of the Atlantic Assembly, Jorge Mario Camargo, announced that four computers, a printer, an audio console and other office items were stolen, apparently over the weekend, in the Departmental Assembly.
So far, according to information provided by Camargo to Blu Radio, it is believed that the equipment stolen using the suction mode, since there were no signs that the three doors of the Assembly building had been forced.
Local media suggest that the robbers have entered the offices of the Presidency of the Assembly, the financial area and the communications room.
In addition, according to Camargo's complaint, the security cameras were manipulated so that there was no record left.
