Controversies continue after the legislative elections: Salvación Nacional, the political party of candidate Enrique Gómez, made a petition in the head of Carlos Cuartas, his vice-presidential formula, for the congressional voting day to be held again. In addition, he questioned Alexander Vega's continuity as a national registrar, considering that he is not worthy to hold that position.
Cuartas Quinceno pointed out that there are no guarantees to support such an election. He warned that, in his view, the country's electoral system is too fragile, which is why the community loses credibility in the electoral process.
Regarding this proposal, Carlos Cuartas mentioned:
Likewise, the aspiring vice-presidency demonstrated his concern over a controversial issue, since the continuity of registrar Alexander Vega has been criticized by different sectors, considering that this official affirmed that he would ensure the optimal conduct of the legislative elections, and these were shipwrecked on doubts.
Gómez's formula indicated that he does not understand Vega Rocha's presence in the institution, stressing that a situation such as the one he had faced should be sanctioned by his retirement from office. “I don't understand how the registrar still holds office, in any company in the world an error of this magnitude is paid by the departure of office, we have to restore the dignity of the public service with suitable people who are willing to serve the country,” he said.
It is worth remembering that the National Salvation movement emerged in the 1990s, thanks to the initiative of Álvaro Gómez Hurtado, who sought to get closer to the presidency and won the second best vote of the 1990 elections. However, that time was marked by the escalation of violence and some assassinations against political leaders, a situation that would also cost the right-wing leader his life in the future.
The legislative elections in 2022 have been permeated by controversy, since they were initially flagged of fraud, taking into account that thousands of votes did not appear at the polling stations, a reason that aroused doubts and even raised a curious proposal; since a count of votes was demanded. Initially, the left in the lead of Gustavo Petro urged not to recognize certain results. However, with the help of its electoral witnesses, a series of ballots were carried out, a situation that led this community to regain several seats in the Congress of the Republic, becoming one of the most voted lists in the country and with a majority within the Chambers.
The results of the Historical Pact were also noted, since Uribism demanded a recount, because the majority of votes found benefited the margins of Gustavo Petro. However, after the establishment of an analysis table in which all the parties of the country and different entities participated, it was determined that a recount was not feasible, since this dynamic had never been carried out in the country and there were no guarantees necessary to carry it out.
