Colombian cyclist Nairo Quintana has been shining in the 2022 season, showing that he is at a great sporting level. The leader of the Breton squad Arkea Samsic, has shown that his physical conditions remain regular over time, being disciplined with his training and objectives.
Although he is no longer the same rider as before, in terms of being one of the main favorites to stay with the overall classification in three-week races, he still fights side by side with the most outstanding in the peloton, putting excitement and a high level to the races he attends.
Quintana, 33, this campaign won the title of the Tour de la Provence, plus a stage, just like in the Alpes-Maritimes Tour.

Beyond his results in other races such as Paris Nice where he placed 5th and the Vuelta a Catalunya, where he finished in the 4th place, his performance is more than an incentive for big goals such as the Tour de France and tentatively the Vuelta España with his squad.
Even so, what they rescue most from the good results, beyond everything it represents for the rider, are the UCI points that add up as a team for the team's qualification, so they hope at the end of the year they will have enough to be promoted to the World Tour category.
In his team, Nairo has been one of the riders with the highest score in the ranking thanks to his positions in the races, although he has not recently managed to score in his short presentation during the 57th edition of the Turkish Tour 2022, where due to a hard fall, together with his team he preferred to step aside to proceed to recovery taking into account that they have more objectives ahead.
One of those next objectives would be in the Vuelta a Asturias 2022, where the coffee grower would hope to achieve his third victory in the overall standings, since in 2017 he was second (although in 2021 he was awarded the title, after the Spaniard Raúl Alarcón, winner of that time, was suspended for “use of prohibited methods and/or substances” by part of the ICU.
His second victory was achieved in 2021, with a great show of strength on the climb and a great stage shot on the first day, which was enough to be the leader the next two days and take a new win home.
The Spanish round will start on April 29 and it is expected that Nairo Quintana will be able to improve himself from his wounds and blows so that he is 100% in defending his title in Asturias.
Likewise, confirmation of their attendance is expected, as well as that of other Colombians, as a race that suits their conditions as climbers above all. In addition, this would be one of the last competitions that some riders would do before doing a final training in height for their respective participations in the Tour de France, which will be held in July.
