He emphasized that this is one of the main measures to contain the spread of covid-19. The ministry came to the forefront after a rumor from Digesa Piura about the removal of the mask.

The Ministry of Health (Minsa) clarified tonight that it has not made any regulations that eliminate the use of the mask in open or closed spaces and recalled, in a statement to the public, that its use is still mandatory.

“At present, Minsa has not established any regulations that eliminate the use of the mask in open spaces. Its use continues to be mandatory and is one of the main measures to contain the spread of covid-19,” emphasized the Health sector.

In its argument, the health authority specified that, although more than 50% of the target population has been vaccinated with the third dose against covid-19, “the population is invoked to continue complying with prevention measures.”

BASIC MEASURES

Since the beginning of the pandemic and throughout the state of health emergency, the main preventive measures are wearing a mask, washing hands, social distancing, avoiding crowds and maintaining the social bubble.

However, Minsa recalled that it will evaluate the mandatory use of the mask in open spaces in places that achieve adequate vaccination coverage, such as 80% of three doses against covid-19 in a prioritized population, “for which the respective standard will be drawn up”.

All this in accordance with the recommendations of the National Institute of Health (INS) and the National Center for Epidemiology, Prevention and Disease Control (CDC Peru).

FOURTH WAVE

“Due to the emergence of new variants of covid-19, a fourth wave is not ruled out,” Minsa said in its statement. For this reason, it invoked the population to continue with sanitary measures to avoid infections with SARS-CoV-2, as well as to complete the vaccination schedule.
