Hit attack in Buenaventura leaves a minor under eight years old dead

On the morning of Holy Thursday, an eight-year-old minor lost his life in Buenaventura (Valle del Cauca) after receiving three bullets in the middle of a hit attack. According to the authorities, the attack was directed at an adult who was close to the boy, who also died in the middle of the events.

According to the commander of the Valle del Cauca Police, Colonel Nelson Parrado, the events occurred around 10:30 in the morning in the sector of the Gallery of the Bellavista neighborhood, belonging to commune number 8, when a 27-year-old man was shot.

Residents of the sector immediately transferred the child to the Hagia Sophia Clinic. However, according to the authorities' report, due to the severity of the injuries, the 8-year-old boy failed to survive.

The hit attack also left two other adults injured, who, according to the commander of the Valle Police, “have minor injuries to the lower limbs” and have already received medical attention.

The senior official| announced that, in coordination with the Government of Valle del Cauca, they are offering a millionaire reward to those who provide information that would allow the capture of those responsible for these events.

“A reward of up to 40 million pesos is offered by the Government of the Valley and the National Police, to anyone who provides information that allows the identification, prosecution and capture of those responsible for the murder of the minor,” Colonel Parrado concluded.

It is worth remembering that this is not the first such attack to occur in the department in recent days. Around 6am last Friday, April 8, a hit attack left one person dead and another injured in the Sameco sector, north of Cali.

As witnesses to the events reported to El País, Cali, two people who were mobilizing on motorcycles approached the vehicle where the two victims were. Once they intercepted the car, they started shooting indiscriminately taking the life of a man inside the car.

For their part, authorities reported minutes after the hit attack that the fatal victim was identified as Juan Camilo Navia, also known by his stage name 'Navia DJ'. According to the preliminary versions, hours before losing his life, the 24-year-old was seen at an event at the Prague nightclub, in Menga, located very close to the place where he was killed.

The young woman who accompanied Navia in the vehicle was also hit by a bullet in the middle of the events and, according to the newspaper El Tiempo, that same day she was admitted to a medical center in critical condition due to the severity of her injuries.

Both the Police and the Prosecutor's Office are investigating the facts and checking the security cameras in that commercial sector to determine the whereabouts of those responsible.
