CDMX: how to register for the free Introduction to Safe Motorcycle Riding workshop

The course is taught in person and those interested must attend the courses with their own motorcycle, boots, gloves and helmet

Recently, the Mobility Secretariat (Semovi) of Mexico City (CDMX) announced that a free workshop will be held in the capital to motorcyclists who seek to acquire or improve their skills and skills in the handling of this vehicle, since the main objective of the lessons is to provide theoretical and practical tools to strengthen their road safety to those with basic knowledge of motorcycle handling.

The local agency also indicated that the face-to-face course will focus on ensuring that interested parties have safer transfers on board their motorcycles, as well as acquiring practical and theoretical tools to prevent skids and better grip curves to contribute to strengthening and road safety.

Each session will be practical with a duration of 2 hours, in which exercises will be worked on general motorcycle posture, cornering and braking. The venue where the classes will be held will be the following: Santa Cruz s/n, corner with Central Axis, Portales neighborhood, Benito Juárez mayor's office. The Introduction to Safe Motorcycle Riding workshop will be held every Friday in the morning (09:00 to 11:00) and afternoon hours (12:00 to 14:00).

To register, interested parties must meet the following requirements:

1. Being of legal age

2. Have a valid Type A or Type B driver's license

3. Wear a helmet, gloves, ankle-length pants and boots (not tennis)

4. Go to training with your own motorcycle

If you do not have an application account, interested parties can access the following link: https://llave.cdmx.gob.mx/RegistroCiudadano.xhtml?faces-redirect=true in order to create a username and password that will work for carry out different procedures.

To generate the CDMX Key, you will only need to enter your Unique Population Registration Key (CURP), zip code, email, mobile phone number and create a password that will be used to access the app or the microwebsite.

It is worth remembering that motorcyclists must be evaluated and participate in the free driving course in order to process a Type A or Type B driver's license, with the aim of reducing road accidents.

To register for the course and acquire the necessary skills in motorcycle handling, you will have to pass the theoretical motorcycle driving course and take a diagnostic test. Subsequently, you must go to one of the certifying and evaluating centers.

In the theoretical course, motorcyclists will be able to access the following link: https://app.semovi.cdmx.gob.mx/motocicletas/ and acquire or reinforce their driving skills through the following seven modules:

1. Physical-mechanical condition of the motorcycle vehicle

2. Protective equipment

3. Pyramids of Sustainable Mobility and Vulnerability

4. Road Safety in Mexico City

5. General Regulatory Criteria for Circulation in Mexico City

6. Safe handling

7. Driving the motorcycle vehicle on the road network

Later, they will be able to perform the diagnostic test using the PAL Academy app, available for Android or Apple devices. To take the face-to-face test, motorcyclists will have to present the certification endorsed by CONOCER in the Standard of Competence in Driving the motorcycle vehicle for road use, basic level and pay 460 pesos.
