The death of former Vallecaucano footballer Freddy Rincón impacted a large number of Colombians and now, after several events in his honor, the Cali Mayor's Office would be thinking of implementing a museum that highlights the legacy of 'El Colosso' of Buenaventura.
This was announced by the mayor of that city, Jorge Iván Ospina, who gave some details about it during an interview with the ESPN sports channel, in which he outlined details of the place where the former player of the Colombian national team would be honored.
The museum would remain in the Olympic Stadium Pascual Guerrero, located in the capital of Vallecaucana, where there would be photos, figures and endless objects that allow fans of the national football star to remember it, now that it will no longer be in this world.
According to Ospina, the venue would be named after Rincón and would help the new generations know more about the player, who died after a serious car accident in Cali, after he was hit by a public service bus while he was riding in his van.
On the other hand, the president is expected to meet with Freddy's family in the coming weeks to propose this initiative, which seeks to rescue the legacy of the Buenos Aires sportsman. What's more, this is what Jorge Iván Ospina told the sports media, who said that he will only open the museum if Rincón's relatives authorize it.
At ESPN, the mayor of los Caleños also announced that this Saturday, April 16, at Pascual Guerrero, another series of commemorative events will be held in honor of the player, which will be attended by several of his colleagues, friends and fans.
It should be noted that hours after the man's death, Jorge Iván Ospina also decreed three days of mourning for the death of the former football player from America de Cali and assured that the family of the 'Colossus' is receiving all the accompaniment since his administration.
The official also made available the stadium of that city, where Rincón was often the protagonist with 'La mechita', so that his funeral honors would take place, which is expected to generate a massive arrival of the public to give him his last farewell.
“We have arranged the Pascual Guerrero Stadium to rest in a burning chamber. Peace in his grave,” Ospina reiterated through the social network.
As the hours passed, new details of how the funeral events will be carried out have become known. The body of the idol of national football left this Thursday, April 14, from the Institute of Legal Medicine, in Cali, and was mobilized to a funeral home south of the capital of Vallecaucana, where he was prepared to take him on a charter flight, from Alfonso Bonilla Aragón airport (Palmira), to his native Buenaventura .
He will remain there until this Friday, according to the information provided by Sebastián, one of his sons, so that the population, with the hand of the local mayor's office, carry out the respectful tributes and recognitions. “The idea is to take him to Bonaventure, the land where he was born, that his people can fire him,” he said.
