The CEO of Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA), Isidoro Pastor Román, has caused controversy on social networks and not precisely because of his good performance as a civil servant. The controversy arose over the alleged acquisition of three luxury vehicles that were paid for in cash, but who is this controversial character who has given so much to talk about?
Pastor Román currently holds the position of General Brigadier of the Mexican Army and holds a PhD in Administrative Sciences from the National Polytechnic Institute. His biography includes achievements such as obtaining a certification as an inspector and instructor in aviation safety, a degree that was awarded by the United Nations through the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
He has a long professional career, since in addition to his doctorate he has taken several diplomas and seminars on topics such as locating and neutralizing explosive ordnance, operational safety and aviation safety, anti-terrorism, risk management, aviation regulations, among others.
He has also had the opportunity to travel to several countries such as the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, France, Spain, Ecuador, as well as New Zealand, Malaysia and South Korea.
The end of his visits to other territories was to strengthen his professional skills, since during his stays abroad he had the opportunity to collaborate at the John Molson School of Business at Concordia University in Montreal, at the Jean Moulin University in the city of Lyon and until has been to prominent schools such as Harvard and Cambridge.
It should be noted that his role in politics did not begin with the six-year term of Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), since he was also part of the Presidential General Staff during the period of former President Enrique Peña Nieto, an entity that was soon modified by López Obrador in 2018.
Likewise, he has worked for the State of Mexico and became Director General of Administration of the General Coordination of Presidential Air Transport in the term of Peña Nieto.
In addition to his positions as servant in the federal and state government, he has excelled as a teacher in the Postgraduate Program of the Faculty of Accounting and Administration of the UNAM, at the Higher School of Commerce and Administration, Santo Tomas campus, of the IPN and at the Institute of Higher Studies in Public Administration (IESAP).
On the other hand, despite the fact that during all these years he had not been involved in any conflict, the independent media FrojiMX recently published an investigation in which it was revealed that Isidoro Pastor had three luxury cars that he had purchased between July 2018 and December 2020.
The information came out of a review that the media carried out on the Declaranet portal, a digital tool of the Ministry of Public Service (SFP) in which federal public servants must submit their patrimonial and interest returns.
In this way, it was known that the cost of their vehicles amounts to a total figure of 1,840,300 pesos. What surprised different citizens the most was that the SFP report states that the goods were paid in cash.
According to the analysis, it is a truck “Nissan X-Trail 2019 with a value of 602 thousand 300 pesos; a 2018 Cadillac CTS, for 500 thousand pesos and eight months later it acquired a 2021 Mercedes Benz CLA that cost 738 thousand pesos”.
It was also found that from 1992 to 2018 he paid about four million pesos for three properties, which are registered in his tax return.
Internet users on Twitter have questioned the president because of his austerity policy and Isidoro's excessive spending and privileges, however, it has been argued that a large part of his earnings come from his work in private companies, since, as already mentioned, he has had a remarkable career that has opened up several doors.
It doesn't matter if your purchasers have been legitimately bought and paid for, the fact is that your name has already been involved in a new controversy related to AMLO and the much-criticized AIFA.
