This is how the investigation into the accident that has Freddy Rincón between life and death progresses

While the striker shows no signs of improvement, the investigations maintain a similar forecast, since it is not yet known who was driving the vehicle where the Colossus of Buenaventura was going and two women identified by the authorities

The accident of last Monday, April 11 in which Freddy Rincón was seriously injured occurred on an avenue with four roads in Cali, near the station of Mío 'Estadio', and despite the fact that there is a video from a security camera showing the strong collision between the feeder bus and the van in which the footballer was traveling, there are more doubts than answers about the causes of the accident.

The future of football icon is uncertain, since his predictions are not encouraging, and something similar happens with the investigations into the accident of which only the Colossus of Buenaventura suffered the most serious injuries; and despite the pronouncements of the mayor's office of the capital of Vallecaucana and the Ministry of Mobility, there is no clarity about what happened in the early morning of that Monday.

A brief account of what happened before the crash: Where were Rincón and his companions?

According to Rafael Rincón, his brother was hanging out with some friends just before the accident, the same ones who were in the Ford truck with UGR410 plates. However, he stated that he does not know the two women and the man who, according to the investigations, were inside the vehicle that is in the name of Tomás Humberto Díaz Valencia, Freddy's brother on his maternal side.

With regard to the car, it has a total of 10 violations, four complaints and six fines, according to records of the SIMIT (Integrated Information System on Fines and Penalties for Traffic Violations). One dating from 2020, four from 2021 and five this year, which add up to a debt of $6,317,053. On the other hand, it is claimed that the owner of the van did not drive it and that the former player of the Colombia national team was a co-driver. Hence the severity of the injuries, which have him in an ICU of the Imbanaco Clinic in Cali.

Once they left the meeting they were in, they got into the car; in the middle of the road, two men would have gotten out of it to take a taxi, a version that the authorities do not confirm, but they don't rule out either. At about 4:37 in the morning, the vehicle advances at medium speed through the intersection of race 34 and Calle 5, near the Pascual Guerrero stadium, one of Freddy Rincón's homes in his glory days as America's striker, and he runs the red light that remains on that corner, colliding with the bus of the massive transport.

After the clash, two women were referred to other health centers in the area, but it is noteworthy that one of them, Diana Lorena Cortés, 43, was discharged without giving any explanation about what happened that morning; even the mobility secretary, María del Mar Solanilla, noted that there are video testimonies of the other accompanying person, who will contribute to the inquiries made by the Office of the Prosecutor.

Who was driving the vehicle?

That is the main question that the prosecution experts ask themselves, since Freddy was in the next seat and the women were in the back of the van. What is known, according to the video on the security camera, is that the driver wanted to make a right turn on La Quinta, but due to the crash he advanced approximately 40 meters, carrying a traffic sign ahead and colliding with a column.

Finally, the process included, in addition to the camera record, the police report of the road accident and the breathalyzer test carried out on the bus driver identified as Jorge Eduardo Muñoz, and María Manuela Patiño, one of the women accompanying the former player.

At the same time, much of the country is still waiting for a medical forecast that will announce improvements in the (very critical) condition of the idol that made an entire country scream on June 19, 1990, when it scored 1-1 against the German national team, champion of that world cup played in Italy.
