Paty Navidad is known not only for her extensive acting career, but for being one of the controversial characters in show business. And although characters like Alfredo Adame constantly boast about their knowledge of martial arts, on this occasion, the actress of La fea más bella does not he only confessed to having practiced karate throughout his life, but recounted some moments when he had to use these skills to defend himself.
Mexico City is a dangerous place for women, who must face all kinds of violence such as street harassment every day. This is why, during an interview with Ventaneando, Paty Navidad, a native of Culiacán, Sinaloa, said that since her arrival in the country's capital she has had to look for ways to stay safe.
“I studied karate, so sometimes on the street I had to practice it on several occasions, on the street and on the subway, because when I arrived here in Mexico City I got to sleep on the street on some occasion,” he said.
In this sense, the member of telenovelas such as Por ella soy Eva, For loving without law or Mi adorable curse said that before becoming famous she was singing on the subway and that put her at risk.
“I was on the metro on the pink line, everyone who passed and got their hands on me had to put all my karate knowledge into practice on several occasions, unfortunately, because I had to defend myself, so I said: 'although I'm afraid I have to pretend that I don't, '” he said for the program hosted by Pati Chapoy.
But among these situations, Navidad recounted an embarrassing moment she lived on public transport, because on one occasion she thought someone was harassing her and although she hit her later she realized she was wrong.
“Once in the subway I was super full, there was a lady with errand bags, another man with bags that I don't know what was inside. The man was after me, I felt that he was sticking to me and that 'something' was sticking to me in my bubbles and I said 'this is going away' and I was filled with courage”, he began to narrate.
It was so that the actress waited for the right moment and when she thought it appropriate she hit the man, but then she realized what was going on.
“At one of the stops the doors open, I grab him, push him and I realize it wasn't the man, it was what he was carrying, I was embarrassed that I had to get out [...] I grabbed him, it wasn't the man with his hand,” he recalled.
The artist confessed that she did not have a very advanced level in this martial art, since it was a yellow ribbon, however, she noted that despite this she was always very fierce and that helped her not to fear confronting more experienced people or their stalkers on the street.
“They didn't want to fight me or the black ribbons because the truth is that I didn't have much technique, but I did have a lot of strength and a lot of rudeness, so I always ended up hitting them,” he said.
