“Social forgiveness is like an ancestral embrace”, Marbelle again attacks Francia Márquez and Gustavo Petro

The Colombian presidential candidate was criticized for saying that he would provide a 'social forgiveness' if he held that position at the Casa de Nariño. This measure, he says, 'includes from (Álvaro) Uribe to the Eln'

Marbelle's name is in the midst of the controversy on social media after it attacked, again, presidential candidate Gustavo Petro and his vice-presidential formula, Francia Márquez. The singer referred to one of the most recent statements by the former mayor of Bogotá, in which he proposed that, if he became the new head of state, 'social forgiveness' would be granted to those who, in one way or another, have harmed the country. In her trill, the remembered 'queen of the technocarrilera' compared Petro's comment to a proposal that Marquez had made to her to make peace between the two.

“Social forgiveness is like an ancestral embrace,” said Mauren Belky, the artist's first name, on her Twitter account. It was a few weeks ago when the actress was accused of being racist and xenophobic by referring to Francia Márquez as 'King Kong'. Marbelle, who also has Gustavo Petro as the nickname 'the poop', did not accept Marquez's comment in response to a reconciliation between the two, and assured that he was returning the 'ancestral embrace' that he was giving him back.

I send Marbelle a hug, from that ancestral embrace that my grandmother taught me, so that it is healed, because not only does racism harm us, but it harms those who express it because they are self-conscious of the opportunity to express love, to express joy and to build in the midst of difference,” Marquez said in the midst of the debate on vice-presidents conducted by the newspaper El Tiempo and the magazine Semana.

“And I return his ancestral embrace to keep him. You don't give me confidence or represent me in any way. Do not give me the cheap speech with which they want to deceive people (...) I don't want to hug you, or ancestrally (...) They offered me the embrace of Judas,” Mauren replied in several trills.

The comments of the 'pearl necklace' interpreter against Francia Márquez did not stop there. On the contrary, she devoted herself to reposting and liking comments that made negative references about her and her political partner, Gustavo Petro. Márquez, who has always tried to smooth things out with the singer, told, some time after these exchanges of words on social networks, that when he was younger he had performed at the RCN music talent show 'El Factor X', not only to show his skills, but also to meet Marbelle, who was jury of that format. The voice of the current candidate for the presidential cabinet did not convince the critics, however, she assured that she went home happy after meeting Marbelle.

The singer, in her wake, assured that as she had rejected her in the past, she rejected her again today. “In 'Factor X' I said no and today I repeat it to him: 'You are not continuing with us, '” Marbelle said.

Marbelle's most recent attack on Gustavo Petro and Francia Márquez came after the politician pointed out: “We are going to provide the options from August 7 to a social pardon that includes from (Álvaro) Uribe to the Eln. We are not interested in starting new cycles of violence, but rather ending them all and definitively. We want there to be no longer armed insurgency against the State, nor drug traffickers next to the State.”

The comment ignited a lengthy debate on social media by those who argued that the candidate's statements were neither correct nor prudent. Faced with criticism, Petro expanded the argumentation of his proposal and explained that social forgiveness is not the same as impunity. Gustavo Petro has recently been criticized for the decisions he has made regarding those he has chosen as allies. On April 5, for example, photographs of the meeting held by María José Pizarro and Roy Barreras with the controversial former president of Colombia, Ernesto Samper, were made public.

Likewise, and because of what Petro initially spoke of 'social forgiveness', the candidate confirmed the holding of a meeting between his brother Juan Fernando Petro and the condemned Iván Moreno, also brother of the former mayor of Bogotá, Samuel Moreno, in La Picota prison. The names of the Moreno are remembered for being responsible for one of the biggest corruption scandals ever experienced in the country. Iván Moreno Rojas was sentenced to 14 years in prison for the millionaire embezzlement of Bogotá, which was called the “recruitment carousel”, when his brother, Samuel Moreno, was serving as the mayor of the capital between January 2008 and May 2011.
