Hundreds of passengers showed their discomfort at the Yerbateros Terrestrial Terminal in Lima due to the increase of up to 400% in the price of interprovincial tickets. Many did not have the money to buy the tickets and were waiting for the cost, which is usually increased by Easter, to be reduced.

Passages that used to cost up to 25 soles on normal days, now up to 120 soles were sold to Huancayo.

The indignation was great among entire families who normally paid 100 soles for 3 people and now had to spend 300 soles more.

The normal thing is 25 to 30. That they charge me twice, but not that much. I travel with five people. It's a lot. But Peruvians just watch, they don't claim their rights. I travel by emergency to see my parents who are in the hospital. They are abusive,” an angry passenger told the news program Buenos Dias Peru.

Other passengers said they were surprised and that they expect from noon on Wednesday to be able to board one of the buses at a fairer price.

At noon they were charging 40 soles, when they were signing me up to buy tickets, suddenly they call me 90 soles. Since that time we have been here,” said another passenger who was also going to Huancayo.

Similarly, the passage to Jauja was between 90 and 100 soles.

The discomfort of other passengers also arose because they had already paid and the buses did not leave because they expected to sell more tickets at a high price.

BLOCKADE ON THE CENTRAL HIGHWAY

It should be noted that at kilometer 50 of the Central Highway, a trailer was disputed occupying both lanes of the road and preventing the passage of vehicles. In addition, at kilometer 70 a bus was also reported paralyzed by mechanical imperfections.

This caused ticket sales to be stopped until the area was cleared.

BUSES TO THE SOUTH

A similar situation is experienced at the Atocongo Terminal in Lima, where interprovincial buses travel to the southern areas of the country. Faced with the increase in tickets, many chose to seek informal transport.

Collectives and minivans appeared at the height of the Alipio Bridge to provide the transport service, but charging twice as much as the formal interprovincial buses.

TRAVEL SAFELY AT EASTER

The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) has made available to citizens an online platform with the registration of data of interprovincial transport companies that are formal and guarantee safe travel during the long holiday for Easter.

Travelers who want to go sightseeing or visiting the family and getting to know the formal companies can access the following link: https://www.mtc.gob.pe/tramitesenlinea/tweb_tLinea/tw_ConsultaDGTT/ntransporte_pasajeros.aspx

This website allows you to check whether the interprovincial passenger transport company you have chosen to travel is formal and meets all the requirements established to provide the service.
