One of the sports in which Mexicans have had outstanding performances is boxing; throughout the history of the discipline of fists and gloves, the public has witnessed different generations of champions such as Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Terrible Morales, Juan Manuel Márquez, Jorge Travieso Arce and the most popular, Julio Cesar Chavez.

The latter is one of the most emblematic references in Mexican boxing. Recently Chávez González shared the reasons why he believes that Mexican athletes are good at boxing, for the podcast Un Round Más he talked about the qualities he sees in those Mexicans who decide to get involved in the sport of the ring and gloves.

The great Mexican champion pointed out as the first quality for which the Mexican athlete is good at fighting is due to the origin of the boxers, that is, their home in which they grew up, because according to the former boxer they come from a humble family, with values causes them to lean towards boxing.

In addition, another factor is due to the need and lack of economic resources in the household. Because of the luxuries and lifestyle that a boxer can afford once he starts earning large amounts of money, fighters who are just starting their careers believe they can emulate that quality of life. This was explained by Julio César in an interview for the program of the Terrible Morales:

Julio not only touched on the factors why someone decides to get involved in boxing, he recalled that starting a career in sports professionally is not that simple because according to Mr. Knockout's testimony, to succeed as he did - and different figures in Mexican boxing - it takes courage and patience for achieve it, in addition to perseverance in training.

“I think that's why, but in order to achieve success because you know what it takes, do you understand me? the first thing you need is... you know... (courage), perseverance, training to become someone in life you need to have what you had left over, do you understand me?” , he shared.
