Colombian football continues to mourn after the former captain of the Colombian national team, Freddy Rincón, died at the Imbanaco Clinic in Cali on Wednesday night, April 13, following the glaring traffic accident he had on April 11 in the capital Vallecaucana. The death of the Buenos Aires footballer was no stranger to the technical director Jorge Luis Pinto, who, amid tears, regretted the death of the former player.
In dialogue with Caracol News, the former director of the United Arab Emirates national team showed the enormous sadness and emptiness left in his life by the death of the 'Colossus of Bonaventure', who was not only his student on the country's courts, but also a dear friend.
Pinto was the one who opened the doors for the Vallecaucano footballer in the Independent Club of Santa Fe when he directed it in 1986. There, the former player made his debut with the 'Los Cardenales' jersey and, in addition, won his first title in the Copa Colombia in 1989.

The coach recalled before the cameras of the Colombian news program the athlete's arrival on the courts of Santa Fe, and highlighted the humility and hard work with which Rincón dressed as an albirrojo until 1989, when he would be signed by América de Cali.
Then, the technical director assured the same media: “that the change that Freddy had is immense in that stage of work that led him, later, to have the greatness that he had in all (football) teams”.
Jorge Luis Pinto also did not hesitate to say that the 'Colossus of Bonaventure' “was great from the start”, not only because of his passion for football but also because of his dedication to the sport that led him to wear the shirts of Brazil's Palmeiras, Napoli of Italy, and even Real Madrid (Spain).

Likewise, the Colombian coach told Noticias Caracol that the vallecaucano athlete was going to be “one of the great coaches of Colombian football” due to “his sports career” and the “competitiveness” with which he performed throughout his professional career and that he was also able to demonstrate when worked as technical assistant to Pinto in the Bogotá club 'Millonarios'.
It should be recalled that the 'Colossus of Buenaventura' and Pinto were not only teacher and student, over the years, especially after Freddy's passage through Millonaires, they forged a close and endearing friendship that, at 11:30pm last Wednesday night, April 13, was cut short by the untimely death of the former player of the Colombia national team.
