Epigmenio Ibarra called PRI's reproach “paradoxical” for deputy who will favor the Electricity Reform

The Mexican producer, Epigmenio Ibarra, reacted to the controversy that broke out after Carlos Miguel Aysa Damas, deputy of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), will rule in favor of the Electricity Reform.

This meant a disobedience to the position of the National Political Council of the PRI - which determined to go against the initiative - which earned it several disqualifications where it was branded as traitor to the country.

However, the founder of Argos Comunicación pointed out that militancy was paradoxical; this, on the understanding that the defender of the Fourth Transformation (Q4) also considered the project of Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) as an effort for the country.

After an unexpected rescheduling, the Chamber of Deputies will hold the vote on the Electric Reform next Sunday, April 17, where the party led by Alejandro Alito Moreno will speak out against it.

At least, this was reported by the national leader in a meeting on April 4 when, after days of uncertainty, the PRI became the last of the Va por Mexico alliance to set its posture.

“We will be on the right side of history and we will vote against the Morena Electric Reform initiative,” said Alito, assuring that the resolution of the bench came about after seven months of studying the proposal.

However, this refusal has not stopped López Obrador himself from seducing the tricolor by repeatedly calling him to “rebel and vote free”, on the grounds that, according to their sources, there are PRI's who quietly oppose this refusal.

The Chief Executive has even said that alliing with the National Action (PAN) would not only go against the essence with which the PRI was created, it would also “leave it with nothing”: “What does the PRI gain by alliing with the PAN? Nothing (...) The PRI is completely blurred,” he endorsed.

And it is worth remembering that the parties promoting Q4 (Morena, the Labour Party (PT) and the Green Ecologist Party of Mexico (PVEM)) in the Chamber of Deputies, gather only 277 votes out of the 334 they need to approve the presidential initiative.

Hence the relevance of the bloc's efforts in favor of obtaining the remaining 60 votes from the opposition who, in the face of its refusal, submitted a counter-reform with 12 thematic axes that make a difference between what is proposed by the federal executive and what they conceive as a real advance in the sector.

Questioned by this, Andrés Manuel showed openness for the 4Q bloc to consider and analyze the proposals, provided that there are coincidences between the two sides. In this way, on April 11, Morena and her allies sought to reconcile with the opposition by implementing nine of the 12 points; however, López Obrador's aversion to a policy was better at the time of voting.

Meanwhile, in that same session, the Transformation parties imposed themselves against the critics of President López Obrador after the opinion was adopted, in committees, with a vote of 46 expressions in favor, 36 against and zero abstentions. However, it should be noted that the initiative requires a qualified majority, that is, two thirds of the plenary session.
