The Government of Mexico City presented the billboard of cultural activities that will feature during the holiday period from Thursday 14 to Sunday 24 April, better known as Easter Week.
According to the local Ministry of Culture, more than 50 special activities will be offered such as talks, workshops, conferences, exhibitions, music, as well as a night picnic in the Chapultepec Forest.
The capital's president also added that among the places that can be visited are: the Hellenic Cultural Center, the National Museum of Popular Cultures, the National Institute of Anthropology and History, the Urban Culture Park (PARCUR) in the Third Section of the Chapultepec Forest, the Los Pinos Cultural Complex, Vasconcelos Library, National Center for Arts, Palace of Fine Arts, Center for Digital Culture and National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature.
On the other hand, the Secretary of Culture of Mexico City, Claudia Curiel de Icaza, highlighted that Mexico City will offer more than 50 activities, most of them free of charge, including talks, workshops, exhibitions, conferences, film, music and performing arts, in 30 of the venues that will open during this period, such as the Museum of Mexico City, the Old College of San Ildefonso, the National Museum of the Revolution, as well as the Arts and Crafts Factories (FAROS).
Above all of the above, the official also highlighted the presence of the replica of the Sistine Chapel in the capital's Zócalo, which will start activities on April 19 and will remain for a month for the enjoyment of visitors.
In addition to a wide range of workshops on music, dance, street art, film, theater, painting, literature and other disciplines at the 240 Innovation, Freedom, Art, Education and Knowledge Points (PILLARS) that are located in all the municipalities.
Finally, the director of Chapultepec Forest Management, Mónica Pacheco Skidmore, announced the holding of INSECTA Chapultepec Forest Festival, from 14 to 17 April, an event that will present more than 80 free activities including opera, theater, dance, concerts, evening picnics, workshops and conferences, as well as the exhibitions Microsculpture composed of 37 photographs by British artist Levon Biss and El lago de las tipulas, a sculptural installation by the Oaxacan artist Amador Montes consisting of 11 monumental insects.
In addition, as part of this holiday offer, the Paseo de las Culturas Friends, located on Paseo de la Reforma, presents this month the large-format photographic exhibition Catalonia from the sky that exhibits a panoramic view of this region through the aerial photography of Yann Arthus-Bertrand; while the National Museum of Revolution presents the sculptural exhibition The Abstract Revolution by David Camorlinga.
In addition, after several of these spaces were closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) announced through a statement that on this holiday several cultural venues would reopen their doors to the public.
