Colombia players give the last farewell to Freddy Rincón

The death of Freddy Rincón, following a traffic accident where he suffered severe head trauma, caused great shock among the football players' guild. Many of the players of the Colombia national team left their farewell message to the 'Colossus of Buenaventura' and sent fortress to their family.

Among the first to speak out was Radamel Falcao, who had written a few days ago that he was praying for Freddy Rincón's health in the midst of the struggle for his life. Then, after knowing his death, he said he was speechless and gave his condolences to the relatives.

Along the same lines was the message published by Juan Guillermo Cuadrado who made a photo collage with iconic moments of the 'Colossus of Bonaventura' and the phrase “Rest in Peace F.U.R.” Another striker who was aware of Freddy Rincón's state of health was Rafael Santos Borré, a youth player at Deportivo Cali.

The striker shared the image made by the Colombian Football Federation to say goodbye to Rincón, this was accompanied by the message “Q.E.P.D and a lot of strength to the whole family and thank you for your legacy”.

David Ospina was another benchmark who remembered the player with an image in competition defending the shirt of the Colombia team. Finally, Yerry Mina, who recovered from injury and returned to training with Everton, asked for rest in peace and an emoticon of a crying face.

Millions of sports personalities have spoken out on social media in recent hours. Former teammates, clubs, sports institutions, among others, lamented the departure of the 'Colossus of Buenaventura', who is considered, by many, one of the best players in the history of Colombian football.

Once his death was announced, the memory aroused in the heart of the death of another 'phenomenon': Diego Armando Maradona. When the Argentinian star lost his life, that November 25, 2020, Freddy Rincón was one of those who joined the messages of condolence through his Instagram account, where he also attached a couple of photographs sharing at different events alongside the '10′.

With the departure of both idols, the fans took that publication and, although they expressed their sadness, they trusted that both will be able to share football for eternity: “Eternal Cracks”; “! I hope he welcomed you with a big hug! Goodbye Freddy! We will not forget you”; “They are already playing together”; “tremendous game I am going to lose myself in heaven. Thank you idol forever”, were some of the comments on digital platforms.

One of the most particular moments in history, for both Colombia and Argentina, was 5-0 at the Monumental stadium in Buenos Aires for the 1994 United States World Cup qualifiers.
