A very good friend of mine and his friend told me from the clinic that he was dead on Monday at 10:24 a.m. and then Faryd (Mondragon) called me and ratified it... We have been mourning Rincón since Monday, I say that he was dead because the chances of recovering were very few and what the doctors did was titanic”, this is how Carlos Antonio Vélez started his audio column this Thursday, April 14, in the Palabras Mayores space of the Antena 2 radio station.

The renowned sports journalist who worked with Freddy Rincón on the Win Sports channel spoke the day after the medical confirmation of the death of the Colossus of Bonaventure to express his condolences to the idol of the national team at the 1990 World Cup in Italy.

In his radio program, Vélez was emphatic in sustaining something that had started as a rumor on social networks on Monday, April 11, after the fateful accident in which the van Rincón was traveling in crashed into a bus of the Cali public transport system (MÍO) and ended the life of the former athlete and commentator at the age of 55.
