In the most recent episode of The Box Challenge on the night of April 12, the Gamma, Beta and Alpha teams faced a trial in the Yellow Box (ground), in a Sentencing and Welfare Challenge. In this race, the team that came in third place lost all the luxuries and furnishings of their house, while the second place could only keep one; the winners lost nothing and had the possibility of sentencing the third man of the cycle.
The test was a time trial in which each team developed the test individually, without seeing the other teams. All six members were tied together with chains, in this way they had to crawl, climb ropes, go through the mud in the shortest possible time. Alpha was the first team to make the course; however, the time of 6 minutes and 52 seconds left them second.
Gamma, the orange team whose strategy is to weaken the Beta team, went through the Box after the first two teams. However, the lack of coordination and communication, as well as the falls of Porto in the middle of the route meant that it took more than seven minutes to complete the test.
“It's a great time, I'm sure we won,” said one of Gamma's members at the end of the challenge. For her part, when giving the results, Andrea Serna seems to have made a joke on the wearers of the orange shirt, because for a moment she made them believe that she had won.
The presenter, with all the seriousness of the case, began to say that “the team that did the test in seven minutes five seconds was Gamma”; although Serna did not tell them that Maleja, Porto, Greece and Carballo had won; while Criollo and Juan Pablo waited for the verdict.
The celebration ended when Andrea Serna exclaimed “they were in third place, it was the worst time”. Finally, the presenter declared Beta the winner, for 17 seconds over Alpha. The situation made the members of the orange house uncomfortable, not only because of the embarrassment of having celebrated, but because their fight with the Beta house implies that one of its members was going to be sentenced to death.
The event caused a stir on social media and the moment became not only a meme, but one of those situations that viewers have marked “for the story of the Challenge”.
When they got home, the members of the Gamma team were angry about the poor performance in the test; however, they laughed at the situation they experienced. “Andrea looked at us as if saying 'what a bear with all of Colombia'... we became a national meme,” said Maleja, team captain.
The winners of this challenge of 'Judgment and Wellbeing' were the members of the Beta team, thus achieving the possibility of preserving all the comforts of their home, sleeping in beds and in their possession was the option of surrendering the sentence vest.
The one chosen by Beta to be the bearer of the sentence vest was Carballo, a former member of the blue house and who is now part of Gamma and this was his reaction:
“It was known, it was more that, like they tried to cover for me at the beginning and they couldn't cover me anymore... than laziness. I think Samir already put it on me, he must have said 'I put it on him' because I can get it out and because at some point I wanted to put it on him and we have all done merit to be here, but you look at how the game is going”, said the defiante.
