For those who stay in Bogotá during this Holy Week, among the many activities that there are to do during these days of rest, for some, and recollection, for others, the bike path seems to be an attractive alternative.

Thus, the District Institute of Recreation and Sports (IDRD) announced that during Easter days, the bike path will operate at its usual times.

This is the schedule for the following days:

Holy Thursday - April 14

The bike path will operate during its normal hours from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Good Friday - April 15 (There will be no bike path)

Sunday, April 17

The bike path will be enabled from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Likewise, during next Sunday, as is traditional, different activities will be held parallel to the bike path. The IDRD invites citizens to participate in the Bicycle School, in the 24th race with 42nd street, on the Parkway, and on Boyacá Avenue with Esperanza Avenue, between 8:00am and 1:00pm.

Another activity is the Decathlon, which will take place in different corridors of the bike path and according to information from IDRD, there will be surprises for users. This activity will take place on 26th street with race 70, Boyacá avenue with 13B street, Boyacá avenue with 146B street and 9a with 146th street.

The IDRD warned that the section of the Cciclovia on 72nd Street, between the 13th race and Caracas Avenue, could be affected by the works being carried out in the area.

The section of the bike path on Boyacá Avenue, between El Tunal Park and Yomasa, will not work due to the return plan.

Finally, the IDRD invites you to travel the approximately 123.69 kilometers available for the Bogotá Cycle Path.

According to the district's projections, more than 200,000 people are expected to visit the city and attend the various events that will take place in the capital during Holy Week.

Given this, the mayor's office extended the invitation to visit the Sanctuary of Monserrate, one of the most emblematic tourist and religious destinations in the city. Located in the eastern hills, on its top stands the Basilica of the Lord of Monserrate, a place of religious pilgrimage since colonial times.

The summit of Monserrate can be reached by cable car, funicular or by the 2.5 km pedestrian trail along the slopes of a mountain that offers one of the best panoramic views of Bogotá, which, according to the IDRD, will be able to climb only between Thursday 14 and Sunday 17, between 5:00 a.m. and noon.

The district also extended the invitation to visitors to participate in the Viacrucis in the Egyptian Quarter on Good Friday, a procession, which as a representation, evokes Jesus' journey to his crucifixion on Mount Golgotha. This procession has been going on for more than 40 years and brings together the community of one of the most traditional neighborhoods in the city center.

Likewise, the district administration indicated that more than 5,200 parks will be open to the public this week with a variety of activities organized by IDRD, including Simon Bolivar Park, Ciudad Montes Park and Parque de los Novios.
