Of great concern in Antioquia is the disappearance of 26-year-old forestry engineer Andrés Camilo Peláez, who was last seen in the municipality of San Andrés de Cuerquía on Sunday, April 3, and completed ten days without being located.

In addition to the understandable concern of friends and family, who are doing a thorough search with posters, banners and posts via social media, the community is concerned that their disappearance may be related to their work.

After all, according to Noticias Caracol, no organized armed group operating in the region has commented on the case or accepted responsibility. In addition, no one has contacted their families to make demands in exchange for the release of Andrés Camilo Peláez.

According to a statement published by the Public Companies of Medellin (EPM), the forestry engineer is part of the Canadian company WSP and is linked to the project of the controversial Ituango Hydroelectric Plant. Among other things, one of Peláez's functions is to restore the forests near the electrifier with species of native flora.

Rubén Torres, who was his practitioner in the area, recalled through his Instagram account that Peláez is an optimistic and broad person.

“One day early in the morning, I sat on a bundle of compost facing the Cauca River, hidden from the workers who accompanied us, I tried to eat breakfast and my regrets would not allow me to. I remember that Camilo arrived, uncovered his door with his breakfast, at that time it was not the most extensive in words, but he sat with me and accompanied me for a while while we talked about how nice the place we were in was. The words that resonate most in my mind to this day are: “Child, see these beautiful mountains, see that river, the important thing is that we are here and we are living this experience”.

The last remaining record of him was a video from the security camera of the hotel where he was staying, which he came out in the early hours of Monday. According to a deputy police officer, Peláez was also seen walking during that time in the main park of the municipality.

Apparently, according to the local newspaper El Colombiano, he was accompanied by two people. However, when they were located and questioned, they did not provide any useful information to determine their whereabouts.

This Tuesday at six in the afternoon, a group of students from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia headquarters El Volador, where Peláez is a graduate, joined through a heartfelt wake to the call of family and friends for the authorities to intensify the search, as the days move on and finding him could save his life.

Precisely, the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of that university site sent a statement asking publicly that the graduate be sought: “We hope to receive very soon the happy news of their meeting in healthy conditions and full freedom, thanks to the collaboration of all those who can contribute to their effective location”.

At the time of his disappearance, Andrés Camilo Peláez Yepes was wearing gray pants, a gray t-shirt with a print that reads “Yellowstone”, a black cap and dark green sneakers. It is also worth remembering that she is 1.73 m tall and has straight black hair. Those who have information about him should immediately contact the authorities.
