A 26-year-old woman tried to make an attempt on her life by jumping off a pedestrian bridge in the vicinity of the mayor's office Gustavo A. Madero, however, elements of the Banking Police of the The Ministry of Citizen Security (SSC) managed to establish a trusting dialogue with her to prevent the young woman from committing suicide.
It was during a security and surveillance tour in the vicinity of the Indios Verdes Modal Transfer Center (CETRAM) that the officers of the area noticed that a woman in danger was sitting on the rail of the bridge that is located on the Ticoman Causeway, in the Santa Isabel Tola neighborhood.
In this regard, the uniformed men approached to try to establish a dialogue with her, all under appropriate security measures and in accordance with the protocols of police action. The objective of the elements of the Ministry of Citizen Security (SSC) was to persuade the 26-year-old woman to give up her intentions even though she was in a clear nervous breakdown.
After a few minutes of dialogue, a Banking Police officer managed to reassure and convince the 26-year-old woman to descend from the rail where she was in danger, to bring her to safety. Additionally, they continued the conversation on the sidewalk until they managed to convince her to change her mind.
In addition to convincing her to give up her intentions, the Banking Police officer gave her a hug and a couple of tips on places where she can receive psychological help to support her in coping with the family problems she faces. Finally, the young woman withdrew from the site by her own means, not before thanking the elements of the Banking Police for the care provided.

According to the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), in our country there are various instruments and programs for early identification of adolescents at risk of suicide. However, experts have pointed out that the problem lies in implementing them, since they should be part of a comprehensive and permanent strategy at the national level, as is the case in countries such as the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Australia, where support networks have been formed involving actors involved in the issue : civil associations, parents, specialists and health institutions.
In addition, these efforts must be complemented by measures to eliminate barriers to access to treatment, since in the country there is only one pediatric hospital with specialized care for suicide cases, as well as to combat stigma and criminalization of the subject.
In this regard, the highest school in the country has made available to citizens the Call Center Psychological Care Line UNAM, which is a telephone psychological service belonging to the Crisis Intervention Program of the Faculty of Psychology of the UNAM.
